The PGC media server is almost ready for its big comeback.  It has been upgraded and should work much better than it used to.  And our movies are, as always, totally free.

Please use the link below to download a free movie of Mario Kart: Double Dash's splitscreen racing mode.  Rick filmed it during the Seattle Toy Test not too long ago, but we never posted it because the media server was working so poorly and because the site was having huge technical problems otherwise at the time.  So, this is never-before-seen, exclusive footage.  Honestly, the video quality is not very good to begin with.  When we start back posting actual movies on the site, they will look better.  This is just a test to see how well people are able to download it.  It is also testing a new format for us: DivX.  If you can't already play DivX movies, you can get a free player at Divx.com.  DivX provides very good quality at very small sizes, though you can't tell so much from this file because I'm just learning how to use the codec.  :-)  But that's not the point, I just want to make sure everyone can play it without any problems.  So without further ado...

I would appreciate feedback on how the download went and how the movie played.  Note that the video quality of the intro and outro is more like what movies should look like; the part in the middle looks worse for many reasons that will be cleared up shortly.

Cool, thanks Jonathon.  It seems to be downloading slower than usual. But then again, it could be cuz many people are getting it. I'll get back to you on the video.  

EDIT: ok the download speed was roughly 8.5 kbps. I live on residence at university and have recieved upwards to 150 kbps so its not like i have a slow line. the video was pretty bad quality imo, but like you said in the post, it maybe was supposed to be that bad, i dunno. Even if it was recorded off a tv using a camera, it could have been better looking then that.

Hrm, it worked when I first posted, but now it doesn't.  Could be that the media server has been taken down for more tweaking.  I'll get to the bottom of this!

Ah very nice...*starts dl, but it's still pretty slow because I'm on a school server...It also doesn't help that I'm currently dl the GGXX OST *

Well I tried downloading a few days ago and it didn't work.
I tried downloading now and it started downloading at 143KB/sec but then it went down to an average of 70KB/sec. It's not bad considering that it beat the downloading speeds of the older media server.

Edit: About video playback.
-I tried on WMP9 it started playing but only until the first few rolls of the cube on the intro and then an error message appeared, but if I leave the error message on the sound continues normally except for visuals.
-I tried with the newest DivX player and it didn't give me any error but the visuals were awful. The visuals were what appeared to be only scanning lines(they were green btw). The sound was working perfectly.
-I tried with TheCoreMediaPlayer and it was unresponding so it blocked and didn't even start playing.
