Rabicle, the thing is that my computer is completely hand built.  I bought all the pieces I needed, I put them all together.  I chose every piece of hardware so that I could get the very best product available for the lowest amount of money.  Every screw in my PC is there because I wanted it to be there.  I installed my OS, I partitioned my hard drive exactly the way I wanted it done, I chose the software I wanted on it, and I have everything configured in the exact way that pleases me.  Upgrading is a simple task of buying the new part and throwing it in.  My case is roomy, and I do not have a single proprietary component in my PC.  When there's a piece of software I want, it's usually a quick download away for free.  When it's not available for free, I can usually buy something passable from Walmart.

Compare the above with a Mac.

There's Linux for Mac and most opensource apps have a Linux PPC build. It's not like it's either Linux OR Mac. But PPC builds have a smaller audience than x86 builds and when you're a coder you should use the most common platform to look for problems.

BTW, most professional 3d apps require three mouse buttons and a scroll wheel helps a lot. Why do they default to one button on Mac? Hell, even the C64 had two buttons on its mouse!

Ok Ninja, I understand what you mean now and I guess you and many others would want to do that. Honestly though, I'm one of those people who doesn't care too much about how something works, as long as it does work. When I put my iMac on my desk and plugged in the power supply it worked. Took me all of 2 minutes to start it up for te first time after taking it from the box. Compare that to you.

Linux for mac? I havent heard of that but i do have a whole Unix command line as my operating system is built over a darwin/unix core.

There's Linux for everything with a microprocessor.  The real difference lies in which systems recieve the best support.

Rabicle, I hate name brand PCs too, but I hate Macs the most.

What the hell!? If you want to play a sport, how about playing it IN REAL LIFE. My god, unless you are disabled you should be getting outside for the real thing)

You are aware a huge number of PRO athletes play Madden and Nba live, arent you?  I play them because i love sports...playing them for real and video games.

Anyway, i agree with Grey Ninja.  PC gamers are a fickle bunch, either liking FPS or RTS.  My dopey friend, the manager of a gamespot, doesnt like Metroid because of the contorls, and theres not enough action.  'Its a ghey FPS'..as he likes to say.  When told the aim of the game is for adventure, he retorted 'then why make it first person?'.  He and his friends cant stand Zelda either  Its a 'kiddie' RPG.   Guess which console they all own?  Not all pc gamers are like that, i realize, but many are.

Those who have played Icy Tower and Cho Ren Sha 68K know there are not only FPS/RTS games on PC.
Both games are freeware and have low system requirements, so you have NO excuse not to try them!
