The Week Ahead: August 24 - 30

Some things to watch for this week on Nintendo World Report. Hype trains, competitions and PAX!

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/41012/the-week-ahead-august-24-30

The unofficial last week of the summer brings with it a major gaming expo, some big releases and a legendary competition. Here's a look at some of the things you'll be seeing this week on Nintendo World Report.

Monday, August 24

  • The Capcom sale kicks off on the eShops at noon Eastern time, promising the first sale for Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate and sales of up to 66% off.
  • Just when you thought the RPG onslaught on the 3DS was done, the calendar turns to 2016 and everything starts coming. We'll have a special rundown of all of the 2016 3DS RPGs that we know about.

Thursday, August 27

  • eShop update day has the first Nindies @ Home game in Runbow, then later that evening will be the Nindies @ Night event at the EMP Museum in Seattle. Damon Baker from Nintendo will apparently be making announcements there.
  • Also on eShop Thursday, we have the last game(s) of Nintendo's "Games for hardcore gamers" August promotion. You've got a candidate in mind, but what will be the last game to come?

Friday, August 28

  • PAX kicks off in Seattle, through Monday the 31st.
  • It's Connectivity Live, as we talk Star Fox Adventures and pay off a stretch goal from last year's Child's Play telethon as Zach talks dinosaurs LIVE on Google Hangouts! Be there!
  • Friday will also mark the debut of what will hopefully be a long running feature as we take a look back at games of recent vintage with some fresh perspective. Although the game will be a surprise, we trust you won't find it objectionable.

Saturday, August 29

  • It's Splatfest Saturday! North America delivers a universal splatting in the duel of Autobots v Decepticons, while it was just announced that Europe and Australia will pit Eurovision against Strictly Come Dancing... or more accurately, singing against dancing.

Based on the above, it's going to be a busy week here. And with outstanding rumors about North America's limited edition Xenoblade Chronicles X, possible fallout from the recent 2DS price drop, Alex doing interviews at the World Pokémon Championships, the unleashing of the Hype Meter and more, it could get even crazier. Keep it locked to NWR for the latest!

... and Girl's Mode 3. To be fair the physical edition of Fatal Frame has sold out with no re-stock in sight, although one thing that certainly hasn't sold out is this Devil's Third t-shirt http://store.nintendo.co.uk/games-wii-u/devil-s-third/11158307.html?utm_source=mothership&utm_medium=gamepage_relatedinfo&utm_campaign=devil-s-third
