Following the changing of release dates for Mighty No 9 to a 2016 placeholder, we have new information regarding a probable delay of the Kickstarter-backed game.

Game Informer has reported that their retail sources have confirmed publisher Deep Silver has reported the game's delay. As a reminder, Game Informer is a publication of GameStop.

The report comes on the heels of Comcept's new Kickstarter project, the Mega Man Legends spiritual successor Red Ash, being picked up for publishing. As well, the game's Steam page still lists the game for a September 15 release, which may point to the physical version being the only one delayed.

Just an addendum to this:

I preordered Mighty No 9 as part of my E3 haul from Amazon. About a half hour ago, I got an email from them saying my item had been updated to release day delivery (I have Prime), and the ETA they gave me was January 2, 2017.
