Game Boy Player?

I am curious about the Game Boy Player.  Does the Gekko in the Game Cube do an emulation or is there an ARM processor in the player?  Any help or links will be appreciated.  Thanks.

The Gameboy Player has the same hardware as a GBA, the only difference is that the audio/video is routed through the Gamecube. Otherwise it is the same as a GBA, there is no emulator, it just plays the games normally.
