YouTube on 3DS: why does it randomly log me out all the time?
« on: January 09, 2014, 03:20:34 PM »

Ok, I'm stumped.

So is this a known feature, or am I just lucky?  Anytime I want to watch something using the YouTube app, I need to log in. Unfortunately, it seems to randomly log me out all the time - forcing me to hit "sign in" again, often multiple times, every time I want to select something new from my list of subscriptions. The app literally won't stay logged in for more than 60-90 seconds most of the time, which makes picking anything from my history or subscription list difficult.

It didn't always behave this way, but now I can't find any way to fix the frequent logout issue. Any tips or suggestions?

Posting it here.

Just had my SpotPass putting "the present" Youtube app on my 3DS automatically.

I don't know it was kinda weird, the way it pushed it.

As to log out thing, it's probably because of how half-assed it is -- it's basically a shell over 3ds browser, maybe it's doesn't keep authentification cookies for long or something like that.

Proper youtube apps on consoles never ask you for your log in information they just give you a code and then you're supposed to log in on pc and confirm the code from there.

Oddly, I think I did the code thing and that's what started the problems. Before that, logging in would keep my session data (or whatever holds user account details) without any problem... now it seems to clear things out every few minutes.

Maybe I should delete the app (and/or associated data) and try again to see if it makes any difference.

Whatever.  I'm not a big YouTube user, and can easily live without if I can't figure out what's going wrong. Just thought it was weird that things seemed to work and then suddenly stopped...
