The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds has been officially confirmed to take place many years after its predecessor, A Link to the Past.

As Satoru Iwata mentioned in today's Nintendo Direct, the game will feature an entirely new Link in the Zelda continuity, who is very likely to be a descendant of the hero in the previous title.

As shown in earlier trailers, this Link has the ability to attach himself to walls in order to solve complex, multi-dimensional puzzles. As shown this morning, it also serves as the method in which Link travels between the light and dark worlds, by slipping into cracks within the game's cliffs and scenery.

Iwata also mentions that while the game takes place in the same Hyrule as in A Link to the Past and the overworld has many similarities, the puzzles and dungeons are entirely new.

The game launches in US this November.
