40 returning levels will greet you when starting up Rayman Legends.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/34937

Rayman Legends will contain 40 levels from 2011's Rayman Origins as well as a new multiplayer mode, Kung Foot, according to game designer Michel Ancel.

The 40 returning levels will be available right out of the box, and can be completed at any time. There are a variety of stages included, all of which have been graphically updated to match Legends' style.

Kung Foot will turn you against your friends in a competitive game of soccer. Players will push, kick, and punch the ball around the small stage trying to score goals against the opposing team. The mode was originally made at the completion of Rayman Origins for the developers to have fun with in their office.

Rayman Legends releases on the Wii U September 3. Look forward to more Nintendo World Report coverage of the game leading up to its release.

cue the "should have been out in February" comments

I wonder if ancel wanted those levels to only be on the wii U version as an attempt to make up for the delay but was forced to put them on all systems

It wasn't the game developers call to delay the game so I see no reason in punishing something that could turn out to be incredible.

I've really enjoyed the free app. This is a day one purchase for me.

Eurogamer said that Murphy (the gamepad controlled guy) is present on all systems and the lack of a touchscreen hurts those other versions.

I'm sure i will feel very special playing those touch based levels while other ports will skip them all together.

Actually the touch based levels are still in those versions as well.  In them, Murphy has a set path and players have to hit a button at the right time for him to actually clear out obstacles, where in the Wii U version you can clear the paths at any time by touching the screen as well as create your own paths.  This makes the non-Wii U ports harder to play in those levels.

That actually sounds pretty fun.

Hopefully Wii U will have the option to control these level this way.

Funny, because that seems to more or less describe the Wii U demo of the Murphy level. You're on a fixed path once Murphy takes over, with no ability to backtrack or deviate from the path.

I think it's about what happens when you are in charge of murphy yourself.
