Planet GameCube Server Upgrade
« on: May 29, 2003, 02:19:22 PM »
We're going to have some downtime tonight, but when we come back, we'll be faster than ever!

If you can read this message, then you're on our new server.  Everything appears to have gone smoothly, but there may be a few hiccups here and there as we check everything over.  The Forums are up and running, so go to it!

We're fairly unexpectedly having to move our server tonight, but there's good news as a result.  We'll be getting a fairly major server upgrade, basically doubling PGC's capacity.

Now for the bad news.  Both updates on PGC and use of the Forums will be temporarily suspended while the move takes place.  Our server will be down entirely while the database moves, and will be back up once the move is complete.  However, the Forums will remain offline, and we will not be updating again until the server move is complete.

Once the move is finished, you'll see a message right here letting you know.  Stay Tuned!

Oh, they will be.  The server will come back up, and you'll think that they'd been injected with Horse Testosterone or something.

A thing moderately good is not so good as it ought to be. Moderation in temper is always a virtue; but moderation in principle is always a vice.

To tell the truth, I see no difference in speed.    It was blazing fast before... and it's still blazing fast.    I think the only slowdown on this computer is that it's a public computer, and I am using the very slow Internet Exploder browser...  I wish I could install good old Mozilla.

Yeah, we've had some DNS hiccups, but everything appears to be OK now.
