What's up with the auto-parse URLs?
« on: May 16, 2003, 12:24:08 PM »
Isn't that supposed to make a hyperlink out of the urls that are posted in plain form in a post?  If so...  why isn't it working, and is there an ETA on that?    I realize it's post-E3 madness still, and I am not pushing or anything, I am just curious.

Probably because it's a weird URL the forum doesn't recognize. It should work if you are linking to a normally linked webpage, but if you are trying to link to a screenshot or page or something that uses a weird pop up thingy or other such applets the forum probably doesn't realize it's a link.

That doesn't make any sense, it should do it at the "http://" or perhaps "www.", regardless.

yeah, but that's why you would put an http:// in front of it.

Alright, testing GameFreak's theory...

http://www.nintendo.com  (this link should work right?)

Are you sure you have the box checked? If not, then go to your profile and make sure everything is right there. If it still doesn't work maybe it is your browser.

Should work.

Using the linking feature looks cooler, anyway.

Uh yes ... auto-parse URLS only work if you check the box.  It also doesn't work from Quick Reply, which is by design.

ummm...  I do have the box checked.  It's checked by default for me.  I'll try unchecking it then rechecking it.

Ok, fair enough.  I am the single person on this forum who can't use the auto-parse URL feature.

Ooooh....  I like the new Quick Reply box...  Is this a Mozilla specific feature?  I was just here on IE, and the quick reply box wasn't like this.  Anyways, I am testing this again, but with the Firebird browser instead.

(This time I am using the quick reply box, because the new one is so cool.  )
