Animal Crossing 3ds and DLC
« on: January 18, 2012, 05:02:52 PM »
So screwattack is reporting that Animal Crossing 3ds Will be supported post launch with DLC

www.screwattack.com/news/japan-animal-crossing-3ds-will-receive-dlc-down-line

Which I guess originates with this page now with google translate.

http://translate.google.com/translate?sl=auto&tl=en&js=n&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&layout=2&eotf=1&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.gamememo.com%2F2012%2F01%2F09%2Fdoubutu-no-mori-3ds-natu%2F

With this news  (If it is true.) I am kinda curious of what most peoples opinions are.

Personally as long as the content is decent and the price isn't outlandish  I can't think of a game more suited to occasional DLC content than Animal Crossing.  So I am okay as long as the content is good.  How does everyone else feel?

I don't get that. Didn't Nintendo just recently say they were against DLC?

They didn't say they were against it, they did say they weren't patching Mario Kart.

There is a chance the DLC might be free too.    I'm just glad to hear the game might get some fair support after release.  While it might be something small just like new items or furniture.  I can't help but to hope that they might do even more.

A really neat DLC might be a small island.  Bigger than the one from the gamecube/gba link.  Where you could get a second house and possibly even exclusive items or shops there.   Make like a vacation house.  That could just be wishful thinking, but if the game was designed to allow such expansions after release, would be really nice.  At least in my opinion. :)

A couple months ago Reggie said they were against selling part of a game and making you pay more for the rest of it. However, Nintendo has since announced paid DLC for their upcoming Fire Emblem game.

From a quick google search there is no official announcement from Nintendo that there will actually be paid DLC for Fire Emblem. There is only an article from Nikkei which states no sources what so ever. It's still all hearsay until Nintendo announce it in my opinion.

I'm all for it. If I want something a little extra from my game months after i'm basically done with it, ok then maybe I will buy. But this is good news for guys like me who hope for something like that available in Smash Bros.

If say the developers didn't have time to finish a character and they release it for a couple bucks years later, then gladly. But none of that crap that you pay for just to finish the game, like with Prince of Persia I believe.

Technically, Animal Crossing City Folk had DLC, in the form of items sent out at certain times. For example, players received a DSi bench when the DSi launched. I wouldn't be surprised if this is what it will be for the 3DS game, but they may take it a step further. We'll just have to wait and see.

If they have pay DLC for it, the subtitle will likely be "Animal Crossing: Enjoy Your Bankruptcy"
