Rumor - Wii U priced in france
« on: December 11, 2011, 08:25:41 PM »
ok so local shops in france have priced the wii u at 450 euros

if you convert that into us dollars then it ends up being around 600 but you have to remember that games in france are also around $80-100 and that the us price is not determined by simply converting the euro price

i feel like this mean that the system will be minimum $300 here with a max price of $350 but i think $350 is more realistic

I saw this like a week ago and didn't post it because it looks like a place holder price so that they can start taking pre-orders.

€450 = $600 and there is no way in hell that Nintendo is EVER thinking of pulling a FIVE HUNDRED NINETY NINE U S DOLLAR on us.

Not even $499, there is just no way.

Doesn't Nintendo and sony purposely rip off europe and austrailia. I remember when Sony took down liksang for piracy, when liksang was selling Sony made products for a lower price in japan then it was in europe. It was total bullshit.

Whilst prices are higher outside the US especially in Europe there is no way it's going to cost €450. Nintendo would be shooting themselves in the foot if they charged that much. I suspect €300 is a more likely price with €350 an outside possibility. Furthermore it's not a case of Sony, Nintendo or any other company purposely ripping people off but more a point of everything being more expensive over here. The cost of living is much higher in general.

Don't worry guys. EB Games Australia has had the WiiU at $600 since the day after E3. Prices at this point are pure speculation.

@ThePerm The PS3 at launch down here was $1000. The Wii was $400

if the wii was $400 there than $600 seems to be highly likely as nintendo said it won't take the cheap outdated route again

Rule Number 2.  Listen to what Reggie says even less.

Actually Nintendo doesn't set the prices in those markets, it leaves it up to the retailers who "markup" the console 40% or higher, in the states the retailers only take like 5-10% on systems (they make it up on games and acc).

It's just a placeholder price set by the retailer, who will list the price far above what they expect it to be. They don't want to have to raise the price when the official price is announced on the people who pre-order it, but if the final price ends up being less, then people will be happy.

What she said. Plus, Nintendo can't give prices to retailers when the hardware might not even be finalized yet. Didn't devs just get another dev kit upgrade?
