Resident Evil: Revelations Single Player Roughly Ten Hours Long

Producer Masachika Kawata gives new details about the 3DS entry.

Gamers should expect a real Resident Evil experience out of Resident Evil: Revelations, rather than a simple or light take on the series, said Producer Masachika Kawata during a Nintendo retailer briefing.

In addition to this, Kawata mentioned that Revelations' single-player component should be roughly 10 hours long. Gamers who have completed the campaign will get access to the Raid Mode, which supports co-op online play and makes characters such as Jessica and O'Brien playable.

Resident Evil: Revelations is set for an early 2012 release in all regions.

10 Hours seems really short.
How long where the other Resident evil games for comparison?
I thought it was about 30 hours are so on average.

After hearing a lot of really encouraging things about Resident Evil: Revelations, a single-player mode that only lasts for 10 hours is very disappointing - especially with the higher-than-normal pricing.

Then again, if the game is 10 hours of awesome thrills and chills then I'll be satisfied. Unlocking online multiplayer modes after the main game should keep the game fresh, and if this game is anything like RE4 then replay value shouldn't be a problem.

Most reviews when it first came out pegged Resident Evil 5 at anywhere between 8-12 hours. So 10 hours for Revelations is not far off from the most recent RE games. RE 4 was abnormally long (at close to 20 hours) for an RE game.

The real issue is how much content is in that 10 hours, and how much of it is padding.

I'm still on board for this game as long as it holds the promise it has shown. 3D + headphones = super tense. I dig it.

Resident Evil 4 took me about 15 hours to complete the first time. Resident Evil 5 took about 10 to 12. I won't be disappointed in Revelations's supposed length as long as it's appropriate. Resident Evil 4 is one of those games that oddly never felt like it was cheating on game length and never felt like it should have ended sooner. It's less about game length and more about what you're doing with that time. Each new setting was introduced right when the game was about to get boring so even though it made almost no sense to go from village to castle to military island, it worked. I hope for the same in Revelations.

From the article's wording, Raid mode isn't accessible from the start. A bit of a bummer for those who want to try out that mode first or play it concurrently with the story mode.

Ten hours is the low average for action games so it's an okay length. Then again, with all the five hour action campaigns of past years, ten hours is probably the new average.
