Snake Eater???
« on: May 09, 2003, 01:41:26 PM »
Hey guys, I haven't even introduced myself yet, but for my first post, I think this is good stuff.

First of all, this seams real, but seems fake at the same time. This is a small clip (hard to see one at that) of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. What kind of subtitle is that? How come Konami would release such a clip before E3? How come this is on such a web site and not on IGN or Gamespot yet? Anyhow...provided it is true (by the looks of it, it seems so), then this seems like a show stopper that needed to be kept under tight wraps until official E3 unvieling. Nevertheless, I am highly intrigued by this video! It looks great and I love how the clip suggests much more outdoor play. Gotta love that. Check the news section for 5/9/03 at the link below for the link to the movie.

Edit: I guess some idiot just leaked the video. Obiovus, I suppose...

I was rather confused by it too. Mostly because I have a hard time believing they'd call any game "Snake Eater", but also because I can't see anyone just making such a large well-made fake. I guess we'll be able to make heads or tails about ti at E3.

I'm surprised the Rambo theme song didn't break out in place of that Metal Gear Solid one I've heard too many times...

EDIT: Oh, and I'm sure there are some furious, well-dressed Japanese game developers over at KCEJ right now.

I'm sure that there are.    I just hope that it convinces them to whip up an even cooler trailer for their E3 showing.

Sounds (and looks) like pre-show hype to me. i'm sure the "Snake Eater" bit will play into the actual game somehow.

i seem to remember them doing the same thing with MGS2 -- showing a seemingly unrelated scene that turned out to be in the game.

i would bet konami intentionaly "leaked" this trailor.

This has generated a huge amount of hype, and will probably lead to MGS3 raking in yet another game of show award for Konami.

Also, let's no forget that this is Konami.  The company that kept the main character of Metal Gear Solid 2 a secret until the games release date.  They know how to keep thing secret.

Too Cool!!  This game looks to really give MGS fans something new with the jungle environment.  That video gave me the goosebumps.  That's what I love about gaming (and especially E3 time)!  The video showed us a lot, but very little at the same time.  We know its Russia, and ....uh....that's it.  Check some messages boards, this one dude lined that "hungry for snake" pic with a map of russia and it fit PERFECTLY.

I'm not even positive thats Snake.  Yeah, it looks like him, but did you see the very beginning where he ate the snake then lifted his head and made a hissing noise?  I didn't think that was very Solid Snake like at all.  Then you ask questions like....who's the back up?  Is it Otacon?  What about Mei Ling?  Where's Raiden?  Heck, what about Meryl?  Is there a new gear involved?  Who are the bad guys (besides Ocelot)?  No doubt that this game will be great, but it makes the mind start going again with all these questions.

Plus, you have to figure that this game will be out fairly soon.  Maybe not this fall, but it won't be a wait as long as MGS2.  The graphics looked somewhat similar to the first PS2 installment, but they'll probably be better.  So, the graphics and physics engine is already done.  Life is good......MGS:TS and now MGS3:SN!!
I like videogames.  I like them a lot.

That's VERY Snake-like.  When I saw that, I knew that I was in for a good game.  You can see the pleasure on his face as he lifts his head back and gives a quiet roar.    Snake in battle is as if he is possessed by a demon.  Inside of combat, he is the ultimate soldier, and will do anything to get the job done.

I enjoy watching these events unfold, when questions and conspiracies arise days before one of the biggest gaming events each year -- it happens every year, I tell you!  This "Snake Eater" bit does look interesting and the video is definately convincing, but I'll keep my questions aside until E3 kicks into full gear.

Anyone have any clue where I can get the new trailer?  IGN's download is insider only, and gamespot's server seems to not be coping that well with the extra traffic.  :/
