The Blue Bomber is down but not out as he returns to handhelds.

Mega Man: Dr. Wily's Revenge is coming to the eShop in Europe, Nintendo announced today.

The game, originally released in North America in December of 1991, plays similarly to the NES games, though it features elements from the first two Mega Man games on the NES. Four stages are available for completion, each one featuring a robot master at the end.

Mega Man: Dr. Wily's Revenge will be out in Europe on September 15. The game was a launch title for the Japanese eShop. It currently has no release date in North America.

I believe the European and North American eShop are fairly similar release-wise ATM, NoE just has a different announcement schedule.

However be warned that Dr. Wily's Revenge is crazy difficult. Because of the larger sprites they cut Mega Man's jump height down to two blocks (his own height which is also the height of the robot masters) which makes it very hard to avoid enemies, especially Enker.

Maybe I'll finally get around to playing through it now that I can use save states. That game is brutal.
