The phat was fine. It is not as good as the DSi, but it is more than good enough. DS Lites's go for about $10-20 more than original DS's.

Decided to throw this out there but the R button on my DSi seems to have broken recently.  I can still press it but nothing seems to happen. I really got to dig in and press the sh*t out of it just get something to happen, if anything.  I'm lucky though that DQ9 doesn't really require the R button so I haven't been pressed to get it fixed.  I don't think I'll want to go and pay the repair fee for this though given the 3ds should be coming soon enough.

Mine did that; it's the reason I sent it back to Nintendo. Seems to be a somewhat common problem with DSis.

I don't know about that, this is the first time i've heard anyone have a problem like that.

That was at least the third time in this thread that someone mentioned it, and I've heard it other places.

Dam, didn't know that dam R button was this big of an issue.  Its strange that this seems to only happen to the R and not the L.  I figured they were both basically the same.  Oh, thanks to whoever it was that said to blow into the button.  I'm surprised that actually worked lol.  That would've never crossed my mind lol.

Speaking of DS issues, I just remembered the other day of another issue I had at one point with my DSi.  I haven't seen it posted here but I've ran across it through the internet when I first ran into it.  I also got a work around for it (only worked for me so I'm not sure how successful it'll be with others).

Well basically, one day, right out of the blue with no warning to speak of, I turned my DSi on and got a pure white screen on the bottom and an error code on the top screen.  At first I thought it glitched out so I just reset it but still received the same problem.  I looked it up online and the only solution I found was that I had to send it in to Nintendo for repair.  Now if this happens to anyone else, try this before sending it out.  I basically turned on the DS to receive the error message and then just left it on till the battery died out.  I didn't leave the system open as I didn't know if having the pure white screen displayed for a couple of hours would damage the lcd.  I closed the DS and left it in sleep mode till the power went out.  After that, I charged the DS to full strength and then turned it back on.  To make a long story short, it worked.  I don't know if letting the battery die out reset whatever was giving me the error but it worked.

Hopefully none of you will have this problem but if you do, hopefully my technique will solve it for you.

Allow me to be the first then.

1. DS Phat - 2 dead pixels from the moment I turned it on (returned it right away)
2. DS Phat - 1 dead pixel (lived with it until I gave it to my ex)
3. DS Lite - L button stopped working recently

The R button on my Phat broke.  I now no longer own a DS with two functioning shoulder buttons.  Am I doing something wrong?  Are my fingers just naturally SUPER STRONG?

I wouldn't by an XL, it'll ruin your 3DS experience because the screens will be tiny :P

My DS Phat was stolen years ago and every DS I've ever owned has had to be sent back for repairs. Including my launch DSi. It's always the same thing too, the R button dies on me.

My original DS's touch screen stopped working (while playing Wario Ware Touched! too).  My DSi's right shoulder button flaked out on me as well (blowing into it seemed to temporarily fix it, but it'd stop working again).
Just some random guy on the internet who has a different opinion of games than you.

Kinda off I haven't experienced the R-button issue at all and I'm a lefty so I play many games holding the system with my right hand in a way that has me resting my finger on the button for support.
