Really enjoyed the show this week, but the Game Club discussion for Cave Story underwhelmed.  Too much effusive praise and too little in-depth discussion.  Then again, whenever I talk about Cave Story it ends up being the same thing... so don't take that criticism too seriously!

Speaking of which, isn't Cave Story awesome?  Having messed up the new music isn't a big deal because the old stuff is quite good anyway.  Apparently the map has a bug in some locations, but who needs the map anyway?  (I didn't even find it the first time playing the game through, but that didn't affect my enjoyment one iota.)

I had to chuckle a few times during the news round-up, because Neal drove all the topics even though Andy was supposed to be hosting.

Maybe Andy cut it, but it was said that I was doing it because I had another computer up with the news stories.

Usually I am "that asshole" who steals away hosting duties, but this time it was because I had all the info up due to my current pimp setup in a college computer lab.

Yeah, basically Neal hosted the news segment, and I did the hosting on the rest, although I think I was fairly quiet this episode, and as a result, Neal picked up a few transitions for me.

Good news, though: I just got a new headset for recording, which I think should help the sound quality on my voice quite a bit.  I've been bouncing back and forth through some rather ... less than spectacular solutions, and hopefully that will be a thing of the past going forward.

Re:  WarioWare DIY Showcase

Contrary to what was reported, you are able to send DS-creations to the WiiWare game over the Internet.  However, in order to do this you need to have a local Wii--along with DIY Showcase--to facilitate the transfer.  You can send a micro-game you made in the DS title to the WiiWare game locally and then send the micro-game to any other Wii via your Wii system.  There's a limitation on the hardware that won't allow a DS to connect to a Wii over the Internet so you have to go through a local Wii to complete the connection.

So if Zach wants to send his abominations to Neal all it will cost him is an $8 WiiWare game instead of a $200 plane ticket.

Do you mean a limitation just for this game?

I thought that the Final Fantasy game released on Wii/DS a while back forced players to connect through the internet even when the Wii/DS players were in the same room (ie: no local connection available).  Surely there is no hardware limitation that would prevent Wii and DS systems from connecting online if the software was designed with that in mind...

I'm pretty sure that Final Fantasy game was local only, though I never played it so I don't know for sure.

My mistake about DIY Showcase. I guess that's what happens when I base my information off of another podcast (not saying Jonny said it wrong, I just heard it wrong most likely).

Zach, please get DIY and DIY Showcase so I can see your lovely microgames involving Kirby eating something phallic and turning into, well, something phallic.

EDIT: Also, Zach's in Alaska and I'm in New Jersey. That plane ticket would not be $200...

Oh I can already see it: A dude wants to get sucked off by Kirby, Kirby sucks so hard he rips the man's thing off, then swallows. Kirby transforms into a giant penis and chases the man around to rape him.

All in the span of 5 seconds?

I think that would be a good one for Dicknote Studio, though.

Ideas I have for WarioWare DIY:

EVOLVE: Dikidik evolves into Throbicok.
INSERT: The giant veiny penis into just about anything I think of.

I actually have NO IDEA how these microgames would actually work, so those ideas might not be possible.
This would be my PSN Trophy Card, but I guess I can't post HTML in my Signature. I'm the pixel spaceship, and I have nine Gold trophies.

Hmm... I am likely misinformed then.  That's what I get for talking about a game I hadn't played.   :P:
