In regards to Koei's gamecube support
« on: April 17, 2003, 03:42:44 PM »
Has anyone here heard anything about Koei's support for Gamecube (Asides from Mystic Heroes). I mean in particular Koei's strategy line (such as Romance Of The Three Kingdoms, Nobunaga's Ambition, etc..). While im sure most of these games will never see the light of day on the North American Gamecube (Maybe not even in Japan), I was just wondering if anyone has heard any rumblings about the company in regards to its Gamecube support (Maybe even a ROTTK Jr???)
               thanks,

Koei hates us now...  I would really like to play some of their strategy games too, but they haven't given us any since the SNES.  I have pretty much lost all hope.

Hmmm, that is unfortunate. I'll always have fond memories of playing ROTTK2 and 3 on my SNES. Perhaps another line will make it to North America? Maybe Fire Emblem? I would love to see a game in that series here, as would many others im sure. Howabout Nintendo making a Gamecube wars, seeing as Advance Wars did so well? Perhaps a Tactics Ogre/FF Tactics game ( I would believe a showing of one of the games in those series would have a good chance of coming to the Gamecube).

PTO 2 was always my favorite Koei game.  You wouldn't believe how much stuff I learned about the Pacific Theatre because of that game.  I read about 3 1000 page texts about the war after playing the game.

I really don't see much in the way of strategy games on GameCube's horizon, which is really a pity because it's so good at everything else.    I did email Koei about it once though, and they told me that they had no plans to announce at the time, but that was about 6 months ago.  Maybe we will see something at E3, but I wouldn't count on it.

Koei supports Gamecube? Sorry about that, had to say it. All we got was a dumb downed Dynasty Warriors with a corny name and most likely thats all we will get. The Koei game I remember the most is Inindo: Way of the Ninja for SNES. The graphics looked like an NES game but the gameplay was excellent. I had to rent that game at least a half a dozen times.....

That was a great game!  I played it countless hours.  The best part was going to ambush a whole town.  Setting it on fire, or trying to take out the leader.

Nobunaga's Ambition... Ahh, the times I spent playing that series on NES and the first one on SNES. That was way back in the day, but I heard they're making Nobunaga's Ambition Online or something like that for PS2. It'll probably never see the light of day outside of Japan never mind on the Gamecube.

Oh, and did some dispute go on between Koei and Nintendo (ala Square) or did they just decide to give their full support to Sony?

I'd much rather have Dynasty Warriors 3 or 4 than Mystic Heroes 2. BTW, why, exactly, does
Koei hate us now?

Give me PTO4 or give me death!

But I was just stating the obvious when I said that.  They don't give us any of their good games anymore.  I remember back in the SNES days they would always be multiconsole, and release their games on both Genesis and SNES.  I wonder why they don't do that anymore....

KOEI does give pretty good GBA support (Although most companies do), so they most likely aren't "anti nintendo" they probably figure that the targeted demographic for the majority of the games they make (such as ROTTK, PTO, NA) are not represented on the Gamecube (I could say how they are wrong and all, but they probably know best, unless they are mismanaged and jaded). But hey, you never know, maybe we will get some ROTTK game or maybe a Nobunaga's Ambition, anything is possible, as we all know. I would be happy if they made an english version of the Romance Of The Three Kingdoms Advance, but it does not seem likely.

Probably due to the Nintendo being "too kiddy" thing...Koei's games are mostly "T" rated or higher, I believe.  It would be nice to receive a port from Dynasty Warriors 3 or 4 from them...but they are a small company, I believe, and they probably do not have the resources to make a port to GCN.  Still, though, that game would sell on the GCN.  It's a very popular game on the PS2 and I bet people who own a GCN only must have at least heard of that game.
I got some killaz on my payroll.

Well, ROTTK8 has been confirmed for the PS2 in North America. You never know, perhaps one of Koei's strategy titles will eventually make it to the Gamecube. Doubtful, but im hoping....
