Iwata Confirms E3 Plans
« on: February 03, 2010, 02:25:06 PM »
The Wii Vitality Sensor, Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Zelda Wii will make an appearance at this year's E3.

In a recent investor's meeting held in Tokyo, Japan, Nintendo President Satoru Iwata has revealed what the company has planned for E3 2010.

For the Wii, Iwata confirmed that Super Mario Galaxy 2, the Wii Vitality Sensor and its software, and Zelda Wii will make an appearance at the show. All three were confirmed at last year's show, but only Super Mario Galaxy 2 appeared in trailer form.

While not confirmed, the recently revealed Xenoblade (originally known as Monado) and Mistwalker's The Last Story are expected to be shown to North American audiences. For the DS, Iwata revealed the next Pokemon title as well as Golden Sun.

Zelda in 2010.

BITCHES

I'm still not buying that, at least here in North America.  A Mario Galaxy/Metroid Other M/Zelda Wii year is too awesome to be true.

I hope to be wrong, of course.

Sorry Jonny, i gotta agree with b-dub. Zelda is more likely to slide to Q2 because they keep using general words when talking about it's release. Phrases like "when it's perfect" "as soon as we can have it ready" "were trying to have a playable demo at E3" "Were now going to require motion plus, even though it wasn't originally conceived this way".

We know Galaxy 2 is done, plus that'll be the time NSMBWii finally slows down in time for retailers to bundle it with Galaxy.

This kind of confirms that Galaxy 2 isn't coming until after E3.

I really, really, really hope I can get to E3 this year.  It would be so frickin' awesome.  And I can harass Nintendo people about Trace Memory 2.
Just some random guy on the internet who has a different opinion of games than you.

I  hadn't thought about that, but you're right.  Nintendo won't release Metroid Other M in the same span of months as Galaxy 2, so it makes me wonder which will be the Summer title and which the Fall title.  And Nintendo won't release Zelda in the same span of time as whichever one of those two slips into Fall, so you really have to wonder about Zelda now.

I thought Nintendo liked to release bunches of games around the same time, to really build momentum.  Of course not all AAA games at once, but then again I don't consider Other M one of these.

Good catch. That went over my head.

Originally I was thinking Galaxy 2 would be a April/May release ala Mario Kart Wii, Wii Fit, and Punch-Out, but now I'm thinking it might come out right after E3 at the end of June.

Either way, I'd be shocked if we don't get it in the first half of 2010.

While very likely, it's not 100%.  If I remember correctly New Super Mario Bros. on DS came out a week or so before E3, but it still had a big presence at that E3.

Actually, I believe it was a few days after for North America.  I remember because TYP had his review copy at E3, but nobody else had it yet.

All I'm hoping is that Super Mario Galaxy 2 isn't the only Mario game mentioned at the show...

I doubt it will be, maybe we will see that Mario game that Charles Martinet said back in December that he had recorded voices for.

Nintendo might want to hold back on Galaxy 2 until late in the year, because if they release it early it might cut into NSMB's sales. NSMB is still a fairly new title, so Nintendo may figure that releasing another Mario game in the near future would be too soon and would hurt sales for both games.
