Talk about replayability...
« on: June 27, 2003, 04:43:01 PM »
Wow, I haven't bought a new GCN game in a while, haven't had the extra cash, but I just sat down with my cube and played 2 hrs of SMS and Metroid Prime.  Just can't beat the fun of going back and remembering what captured your imagination the first time.  Entering Delphino plaza always makes me want to game, same with hearing that errie music in MP.  I never really have this happen with non-Nintendo consoles, does anyone else find that they keep comming back to Nintendo games more later on?

I hear you, I only get a game about every three months, mostly because I can't  afford more.

I have tons of games, in my job I get a lot for free.  Plus I'm a bit of a collector and a multi console gamer.  Still I play my GC and my Nintendo games the most.  I've played Zelda:WW three times and Metroid Prime, Mario Sunshine, and Luigi's Mansion twice.

Not to mention the 100's of hours my friend and I have spent playing Super Monkey Ball 1+2.

Even when a game is really good, once I have devoted many hours to beating it, I tend to stay away from it for some time.  However, I start to miss them later on, months or years later.    There are certain particular games that left lasting impressions on me, marked as memorable experiences above all others, without which my life would not be complete.

If whatever I just posted sounds rude/hateful/whatever then you probably read it wrong, but I will insert apology here, anyways, just in case.

Yeah i know what you mean, every now and then i pop in Luigis Mansion and SSBM and they are still as fun as they were to begin with (well to me they are anyway). Also i find myself playing Pikmin a few times a week, even though i got it a year ago. Challenge mode in Pikmin never gets boring to me. If ever im bored, i can always rely on my Gamecube to keep me entertained

At the moment, I'm finding Jet Grind Radio to have the most replay value.  The better skilled you get, the more fun it becomes and can be beat in a day.

I also want to replay both Shenmue games.  I missed quite a lot.

I must warn you that Shenmue is NOT for everyone.  Some like me love it, while others found it to be a boring game and hated it.

I know exactly what you mean.  I seldom totally replay a game over again, but Nintendo games always bring me back for some more of the fun.  I'm still playing Kirby64 over and over, in Metroid Prime I like to just go back and walk around, SSBM. . . lots of playing for this, Luigi's Mansion I'm playing over on the Hidden Mansion, Star Fox Adventures I'm playing over because one of my saves is stuck in that palace place with the fans, Gauntlet I almost never play (beat it and have a level 99 Jester with plenty of all items), and I'm currently trying to finish the Nintendo Gallery in Wind Waker (only 3 statues away from finishing), so I've beaten the game once and gotten up to the second Forbidden Fortress twice.  Mischief Makers for 64 is also a great game for replay, as are most of my other 64 games.

So, no I don't technically replay the game, but Nintendo, and occassionally others, keep me coming back for one thing or another.

Nintendo games seem to be very fun for me. I can play SSBM for hours, not play it for a week, then go back and just have tons of fun all over again. Other games like MP I played and beat it within a couple weeks of its release, then just went back a few weeks ago and played it all over again. I finished WW a while back, and I'm starting to feel like its time to play it all over. This time I get to play in my pjs through the entire game.

Most of Nintendo's games can either be played all the time, or after a while they are fun to go back a replay all over again. This is a really good thing since games are like $50 a pop so I like getting my monies worth.
