Gamestop goes into detail of the contents available in the limited edition of The Beatles: Rock Band, which includes a Höfner Bass controller and a Ludwig-branded drum kit.

 A recent Gamestop e-mail listed what the $250 The Beatles: Rock Band Limited Edition bundle will include and offers future updates if you join a pre-order club.    

The limited edition will include a copy of the game, a Höfner Bass controller inspired by one Paul McCartney's instruments, Ludwig-branded Rock Band drums, and a microphone with a stand. The drums will feature a classic pearl finish, a metal kick pedal, and a vintage replica drumhead.    

Details on modes and songs have yet to be released. The title is set to be released on all consoles September 9.

I love the Beatles music but i'm not this much of a diehard fan to go for the bundle. I have all my GH:WT instruments and an old broken mic stand from my days in a real rock band, so i'm good on that front.

I've heard rumours that this game will let you have dual singers to harmonize on certain songs, which would be cool. What i really want to see implimented in these games is a mode to let one character play an instrument and do vocals; its just annoying dealing with two controllers whenever i decide to play guitar and sing at once. Plus, one character doing both would be nice.

Yeah, I was about to say that brand name probably raised the game' price. The Beatles are an institution so its likely they demand a pretty hefty fee.

Damn thats a good point (GH compatability) i forgot about! Hopefully i can use these instruments or else i'll jus thave to miss out on The Beatles music, no biggy. When i meant brand names i also meant on the instruments themselves, not just "The Beatles" (licensing of songs/art/likeness etc)

The instruments are also going to be pretty "fancy," I assume. Probably bigger and more elaborate than their standard Rock Band versions.

Overpriced.  Also weird that the bundle has a bass instead of a guitar (though of course it could be used for either part, thanks to the magic of video games).

I don't think Lennon or Harrison had custom guitars, McCartney made his bass pretty famous though.

MTV Games can kiss my ass if they think I will pay $250 for a music game regardless of who is in it. Hell, the CURRENT Rock Band and Guitar Hero bundles are over-priced and those feature bands I actually like.

Most die-hard Beatles fans are of an older audience and likely don't own a video game console, and/or older music zealots who would scoff at these rythm games because its nothing like playing a real instrument.

Then most of the gamer crowd who are into games like Rock Band and Guitar Hero don't normally care for these "oldies" and buy the games because they can "rock out" to the likes of Slipknot and Dragonforce.

The only type of person i see this overpriced bundle selling to is Ned Flanders.

The Hofner was not custom-made for Paul, but he definitely made it famous.  However, I think his best bass playing BY FAR was on the albums where he used a Rickenbacker, from Revolver through Abbey Road.

thats what i meant i'm sure over time he'd customized it but yes, what i meant to say was he made the Hofner famous to the point where its almost synonymous with Sir Paul McCartney of The Beatles.

Wasn't that the concern for the Wii?  Older audiences supposedly do own videogame consoles now.

Still too expensive though.  I think the greater risk is just that with each one of these games the amount of first time buyers gets smaller.  With the first Rock Band you could assume that almost everyone bought the bundle because no one had the drums.  But now?  A lot of fans of both Rock Band and Guitar Hero now have a full set of instruments.  The disc-only version of these games is logically going to become the bigger seller as the bundles are only for newcomers.

To be fair this is a limited edition bundle, and as far as i know there is no standard bundle that comes with plain Rock Band instruments plust the game.

And yes, sure there are plenty of adults who might be Beatles fans that own a wii but i still feel like they're not the type to pay $250 for a game and some plastic instruments after spending $250 on the wii alone. It doesn't seem like a value, and only appeals to hardcore, teeny bopper like fans, who just HAVE to have everything Beatles related. My question is, how many of those are there left in the world?

Well, if it is being labeled as a "limited edition" then you know that phony collectors are going to be all over it.

Just how limited are we talking here? A million? 500,000? Even 100,000 still seems like a lot. If they're going to intentionally limit the production run then it needs to be something really small for it to be worthwhile. Super Tecmo Bowl II had a run of 15,000. Now that's limited.

Though technically every game is a "limited" edition as they aren't going to be on sale forever.

Halo 3 made a joke out of the Collectors Edition idea. The Collectors/Limited/Legendary editions were just as common as the regular edition. If there is not regular edition of the game package, then it's not really a limited edition unless they do something like mop said and only manufacture a few copies.

This is true. My Wal-Mart still had a couple of Legendary Edition boxes and they were selling for 50 bucks.

Three part harmonies confirmed for Beatles: Rock Band

Having the harmonies is pretty damn cool.  My brother has a USB mic so I least have two mics at my disposal.  That might work best actually since him and I are the only two in my group of friends who can actually sing on key.  The only other friend willing to sing in Guitar Hero: World Tour has a very strange quirk when singing.  He's a songwriter and is obviously not tone deaf but with almost any song that he himself didn't write he just cannot get the vocal melody correct.  He goes up when the song goes down.  He adds notes that aren't there.  He holds notes that aren't held.  We've gone to karaoke and, OH MAN, seeing him butcher songs that any idiot can sing and that's he's heard a million times before is quite a spectacle.  And he remains completely oblivious to this.  So if he was providing the third part in a Beatles harmony we would start failing every song.  So thank God I only have two mics.

I forgot that they're simply USB mics. Does that mean if a friend had Rock Band on a 360, his mic can still work if plugged into my Wii right? If so i might actually be able to harmonize with a friend after all (or attempt to), awesome!
