Plane tickets
« on: April 01, 2009, 12:01:52 PM »
I was going to put this in my newest thread, but I bet everyone has this question.

How do you find the cheapest tickets? What method do you use?

I only ask because I have a lot of tickets to buy this season. For one, I plan to hit up Honolulu and on my way back, Vegas. I've found a ticket that'll cost roughly ~650 that does allows me to fly out of Chicago, land in Honolulu and on my way back have a lengthy stopover in LA (2.5 hour drive to Vegas) and then finally fly out of there back to Chicago.

I found that using Skyauction.com

If you know the tricks of the trade, I implore you to help me find two cheap tickets: One from CHI to LA (or vegas) and one from LA to Honolulu.

OR

If you can find one ticket that goes from CHI to HON but then has the ability for a LENGTHY stopover in LA; that would be acceptable.

(both of those deals would be multiplied by 4 to include my brothers!)

I WOULD BE IN YOUR DEBT. I'd be willing to buy any of you a game or Wiiware or whatever.

When I went to Hawaii I actually won the trip for Free. Plane Tickets & hotel for 4-5days.

But now I fly for free wherever I want to go as my friend & his gf both work for an airlines and give me buddy passes to wherever I want to go... Like N.O, L.A, a little over a month ago.

I'll call him and see if there is a trick to getting really cheap tickets that he knows about.

Good looking out my nigga! :)

Hey, as an exchange, I have the hook up for hotels where ever you need to go. Half off anywhere in the world; I swear to you!

EDIT: I'd just like to add that I love dealing with hook ups. That's the major reason I'm going to Hawaii and Vegas in the first place. I have people there that have the hookup. I don't have to pay for ****.

If you can hook it up with a cheap plane ticket, I have access to NICE hotels anywhere there's a Marriot (or a partner of Marriot). I've been using this one for a while, though I have yet to use it overseas. It shouldn't matter, however, because it's a corporate discount. Friends and Family get 50% off, while the man with the ID (me) gets 75% off.

Hook ups boy, it makes the world go round.

Funny thing is I have another friend that works for the Marriott too. So I also get that major discount (I have yet to use it though). But whats even funnier, is that is the brother of my friend that hooks up buddy passes.

Stogi. When is your trip?
& how long is lengthy?

Nice! You should use it sometime. I've done it before even in my own city (Chicago's basically my own city) just cuz of the bad ass suites they have. I'm talking about jacuzzi with the plasma!

But anyway...

My trip?

The exact days aren't set yet, but we're having a meeting about it today so I can tell you by tomorrow. My lengthy stopover would be about 15 or 16 days. Why such a long stopover? Two weeks in Vegas is the only way to do it.

2.5 - 3 weeks (it's dependent on when my brother gets out of school and when my girl in Hawaii wants to start packing her **** to come back home)

EDIT: EC, we are not PIMPS. Hustlers maybe.

5 week vacation(give or take a few days)... I'm jealous

Give me a few details (through PM if you want) and I'll see if my boy can find something cheap for you. x4
He suggested going directly through the airline website though, just in case something is up with your flight (over-booking, cancellation, major-delays) you won't get told to just deal with it.

Money to burn? Naw, I'm not rich or anything. I just have people in Vegas  who have the hook up. For one, I've already set $50 bucks aside for "gambling" money. I plan to lose it all mind you, but I will take any of the profits and put it right back in my pocket. Secondly, while I may drink, my brother's long time friend gets VIP in most every place he goes (he's been living there for 5 years) and he said alcohol will be the least of our worries. And lastly, the girl I'm visiting in Hawaii is packing her **** then meeting us during the second week of Vegas. Last time she went to Vegas, her parents gave her so much loot. She's already committed to ball again.

Still, don't get me wrong, we'll have loot but only because we've been saving up for it all semester.

4-5 days and you were ready to go? I guess I can see how that happens.

Me? I've traveled quite a bit in my life and I am never ever satisfied with a week in a new country/city. Why? Well I become a completely different person when I'm overseas. I feel like the shackles come off and I can say and do whatever I would normally never do because of two reasons: One) I won't be back for a long time if ever, and Two) I will most likely never see any of the people I encounter again (unless I want to see them again). I feel just as I start to get the hang of a new place; just as I start to make friends, acquaintances, and hook ups, a week has gone by and I can't follow up on anything that I've learned till I revisit.

3 weeks is perfect. The first week is a fresh experience; the second week you become a local and have friends; the third week you came and saw and now you are ready to go home (or somewhere else and start over).

Anyway, I'll PM as soon as I know what's what.

Maybe in a place like Hawaii... 2-3 weeks would be perfect. But Vegas? I live a 2 hour flight from there and an 8 hr drive.
I've been there plenty of times and its not one of my favorite places to go. Fun but short lived.
Perfect long weekend getaway- Blow some cash, lose your stash & score some ass. then go home & save up to do it again

Well my brother who's been there as well said the opposite.

He said that every night there is one club or bar that is the place to go. Having a second week to run through them would be perfect.
