Pixel Junk Monsters - DANCE FASTER MAN!
« on: February 17, 2008, 08:56:47 AM »

So I just started playing and absolutely loving Pixel Junk Monsters on PS3.  For those that don't know, it's a 10 dollar PSN title in the tower defense genre.  A good example of a similar game can be played online...

http://www.handdrawngames.com/DesktopTD/game.asp

It's a totally addicting and charming game that looks absolutely stunning in HD.  If you aren't playing it and you have a PS3, I highly suggest checking it out.  I'd also like to compete for some high scores, so if you are playing it and you aren't on my PS3 friend list, please send me an invite.  :)  My PSN Name is PaleZer0.  The last 0 is actually the number zero.

This is a perfect example of the kind of content I expect to get on WiiWare, and I sure as hell hope we get it soon.

Fun Fact:
The developer, Q-Games, also made Star Fox Command for the DS.

Edit: I deleted my original post because I started to think that if I'm going to say something about this game I might as well post something positive, and since I have yet to play this game, and nor do I own a PS3 yet even though I do investigate on games now for when I do get a PS3, then I should just shut my mouth.

I basically said that the art style is somewhat poor, and that from watching some videos at ign I thought the gameplay was boring, so in other words it's just not my cup of tea.

There's a certain amount of OCD involved in the liking the game.

In a weird way, I compare it to Final Fantasy XII.  It's all about setting up your situation well enough that you can stop playing.

It's like a metaphor for retirement or something. =P

What's OCD?
Ah yes, I see your comparison of PJM with FFXII. I see PJM more like an antipode of a Lemmings game. In PJM the enemies follow a path to their destruction in contrast of the Lemmings following a path to their salvation.

I think this game is awesome and Pale if you have a PSP this game supports remote play. I was surprised how over the internet it has little lag. The PSN needs more unique game such as this. But my only disappointment is no online play and this game seems like an awesome co-op game. I bought pixel junk monsters when sony had it on sale for 7.99

Yeah.. i see your high scores when I play.  :)

I tried out the remote play but thought the resolution issues made it near unplayable...  should I give it another try?

I am addicted to the TD games on WC3. I really hope they release these types of games on WiiWare.
If you add any of my WiiC or any FC please PM me.

What's OCD?

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder. In short, being fixated on some repetitious action. By performing the action it gives a sense of completion or accomplishment.

Hope that helps.

Well there are some resolution and graphical degrading issues when played on the PSP but I don't see a lot of issues. I think its a good feature if your really itching to play it but you don't have immediate access to your PS3 such as like having to go to the toilet or someone else is hogging your TV.
