Bump, finally got it and want to vent somewhere

This game is absolutely awful, one of the worst abominations i've ever experienced in my entire life. Yet somehow i'm still playing after a few painful hours. It's more painful for me because I absolutely LOVE SSX Tricky. The presentation is horrible, crappy explanations, crap menus, retarded border around the entire game, it even has a laggy pointer. EA have unbelievably low standards. The actually gameplay is OK when you're actually doing it smoothly. Ubers I have no problem with but doing normal tricks is really annoying because i'm flapping my arms all over the place while pressing buttons and it's just a clang of wires and controllers in front of me and it's really noisy, messy and uncomfortable. I've never yelled so much in my entire life than while playing this game, the difficulty is absurd right from the get go, all I want to do is unlock tracks so I can just snowboard around on them and i've probably lost a good 20 years off my life from stress. Anyways 10/10 amazing stuff I will keep playing.

I played it, it absolutely sucks. I don't think I ever nailed a single move, due to the absolute sh*t controls.
I think it says on the box, 'No Hispanics' " - Jeff Green of EA

You suck.

This is definately a polarizing game. You either get it or you don't.

I was able to pull off some of the uber tricks, but it is all about timing and practice.

Its the game that reminds me of Super Mario 64 in the way of having to learn a new controller and absolutely sucking until that point.

j/k about you sucking.

A year later and this game is still right on the edge of my "maybe buy" list, even with it being freely available for around 20 bucks.

Go hence, to have more talk of these sad things;
Some shall be pardon'd, and some punished:
For never was a story of more woe
Than this of Sega and her Mashiro.

I own this game. I never played it much and since then it has always been on my "maybe play" list.  If that gives you a good idea of my experience with that game.

I love this game.  It's what kept me from selling my Wii in the spring.  (Same thing with the Godfather in the summer.  Thanks EA!)  I agree that the presentation is awful.  The menus and the interface are incredibly bad, but that's the only thing I would change about the game.  I think it controls really well, the graphics are pretty good, and it's just pure fun.  This is really the only pick-up-and-play game I own besides Wii Sports.  I can keep coming back to it every couple of weeks/months, ride the half pipe, have a few races, bust out a few tricks, and it's fun.

Wow, this really is a polarizing game.  Let me tell you my experience.  I knew of the problems with the Uber Tricks going into the game...I also knew the people that truly gave the experience a try loved the game.

So I rented it, because I wanted to see if it was truly that hard, or if 3rd parties can do Wii games right.  I found Uber Tricks to be extremely difficult to do when you are in the heat of racing and you just want to implusively pull one off.  So, I practiced in the Uber Trick practice area, which was very nice addition.  Soon, I could pull off the Heart, Circle and Z Uber perfectly, so I just used those all the time.

Racing and Boarding felt better in this game than any other SSX I played, but I never felt the satisfaction and drive to push myself further like I did in SSX 3.  I think this is because the levels, were not nearly as great as 3, even though a few of them were the same levels.

I actually really loved the new artstyle and direction and felt it was a postive change for the game.  Overall, I had postive feelings for the game, but just never pushed myself to the buy category.  Sometimes I want to go back to try the game again, but not enough to do something about it.  If the game had waited and came out with online racing, I think I would be in love with the game.  I actually like the difficulty of the tricks for online competitive play.

Oh, about tricks, I dunno why the poster above was mentioning flailing around while doing regular tricks, I never had that issue.  Simple small movements worked fine.  In fact I thought regular tricks in this game were easier in many ways than other SSX games.

The game is an above average game with a learning curve that will be small for some and large for others.  The game is deep and rewarding, and if you get into it really feels right.  Specially just the boarding around aspect.

I concur, this game can be quite fun.  Just because you can't adjust to the motion controls doesn't warrant rating this game awful (and you can change the controls around in the options setting anyways).  It's a great buy for the lowered price tag in my opinion.  This is my first SSX game since 3, so I haven't tried out the skiing too much, and many of the tracks seem to be a rehash of those.  But all-in-all, a very fun experience.  It has it's flaws, as most games do, but it's nothing worth ranting over.  If you need a game to pass some time, this one will do just fine...but I agree w/ Spak-Spang, I also lacked the drive to go as far in this game as previous ones...maybe it's b/c I'm growing out of games a bit, or maybe b/c you can't buy stuff like in the other ones...but I say give it a shot nonetheless...
