Wing Commander Arena
« on: August 28, 2007, 02:59:53 PM »
Well as some of you may know I'm a huge Wing Commander fan.  Like, I run a fansite status.  So naturally I purchased the XBLA game "Wing Commander Arena", I was excited, without any big expectations since I knew well ahead of time what to expect from it.  The problem is, I've only been able to play the single player games 'cause I can never find anybody online!  That tends to be a problem for a multiplayer game.

So even though I have a feeling that I am doomed to suffer the fight alone in the dark corriders that are single player tacked on game modes, perchance did anyone here get ahold of it and would you be willing to give it ago on some multiplayer?

I was super into Wing Commander back when it was really big. I had 1-4, even Privateer (though can't say I liked that one much). I was really upset when Angel (wasn't that her name? Devereaux) ended up being dead. I thought there should've been some way to get an alternate path, if you did everything perfectly in the rest of the game leading up to it, so that you could save her. And what up w/ Hobbes all re-deflecting back to the bad guys and such! I think that may have been such a downer that I stopped playing.

Anyways... back on topic. If I had a 360, I'd play Wing Commander with you.
... but I don't, and I have no plans to get one

Ah, that's a shame, hopefully someone with it will see this thread.

Actually, Hobbes defection in WC 3 was more thoroughly explained in scenes that were cut from the final game's release.  He had been a plant since his defection to Confed and was simply awaiting his "trigger" to switch back into "GLORY TO KILRAH!" mode.  He didn't know this, mind you.  Some sort of psychological brain washy thing.  Unfortunately you only get the full story if you take the time to look up those deleted scenes.
