There are several news posts that are also a good read associated with the comic.

The tournament I saw (but did not partake) had a guy who was older than all the kids and cleaned up.  He wasn't to snobbish about it though, at least not at the final rounds I witnessed.

No rules from what I could tell... just 3 pkmn each (lvl 50 match) and duke it out.

Well, that seems like the older, more mature gamers would have picked overused pokes with good training, while the younger kids would choose 'Uber' legendaries.  I guess they still wouldn't have good moves and stuff, though.

Honestly, they should have divided the tourney into two, for experienced and less experienced players, if possible.  It's never a good scenario when more experienced players get mixed up with newer players who are just there to have fun.
