Okay, I just got this email from Amazon.com:



Now, it would be one thing if they were calling me on my history of purchasing lame, girly non-games, but it says right there that it's basing the suggestion entirely on the fact that I've "bought or rated" Mario Kart DS and/or other Nintendo DS games. Seriously, what? Did everyone who has bought DS games from Amazon get this email? How is "Holly Hobbie and Friends" notably similar to Mario Kart in any way?

I got one recently about some game that sounded like a Nintendogs ripoff.  I can't remember what game the recommendation was supposedly based on.  I'd opt out of these things except that they're occasionally useful.

The recommendations on their site are usually better, although I find that they're pretty stupid when it comes to hardware.  "Oh, you bought this controller?  Then you might like this other controller."  NO I WOULDN'T BECAUSE I JUST BOUGHT ONE!

It probably just means that the five people who pre-ordered "Holly Hobbie and Friends" also purchased Mario Kart.

Amazon told me that since I liked Kirby Canvas Curse that I would also like Phantom Hourglass. I'm not sure the correlation there is terribly strong, but I hope they're right regardless.
