Tomb Raider Anniversary
« on: May 15, 2007, 03:57:24 AM »
IGN had an interesting interview with EIDOS.  Looks like after porting LEGO Star Wars...they realized they could make money with the Nintendo fan base.  Now we're getting Tomb Raider Anniversary, which is arriving late (just like the GCN version).

I'm a little hesitant to jump on this one...since I haven't played TR Legend outside the first frustrating level.  Am I missing out or what?

Tomb Raider 1 was the best Tomb Raider. IMO.

very interesting, considering Gardner appears a strong supporter of the wii. I'm fine with a delayed wii version, as long as they are taking the time to nail wiimote gameplay

I will take a look at the game.  I believe the Wii controller is perfect for third person action games...as it provides a means for very accurate targeting of enemies, quickly and effortlessly.

If the game takes modern controls and kind of revisits classic levels, classic puzzles and such throughout the series then it could be a very interesting and fun adventure game to play through.

Well Gardner did say that he had a good relationship with Nintendo during his days working at Capcom. But I think its healthy for the industry that they are atleast trying to explore game possibilities with the Wii. Now if only there wasn't a lot of 3rd party shovel ware for the Wii or any other platform.

You really should go back and play Tomb Raider Legend to me its hands down the Best Tomb Raider and in fact I was more then willing to give it my vote as the 2nd Best game of 2006. (Twilight Princess gets #1)

I'm really happy to hear about this, I was planing to buy it for the PC or PS2 now I'm just going to hold out for the Wii version.
I really hope when Legend 2 comes out we're not going to have to wait a couple months for the Wii version. I would really like to see Legend 2 come out at the same time as all other versions.

Is this remake using the TR Legends engine? I heard the controls in that one was really good.

More support is always good, but is Tomb Raider still that big of a deal? I heard the last few games weren't so hot.

Tomb Raider II, III, The Last Revelation, Chronicles, The Angel of Darkness and the GameBoy versions all sucked. Had this been a year ago I would have not cared about Tomb Raider. The smartest thing Eidos ever did was pull the Tomb Raider series away from Core Design and give it to Crystal Dynamics.

Tomb Raider Legend was freaken AMAZING! It was the rebirth of a dead franchise.

Legend actually seemed to be a lot better than the ones before it.   If the anniversary is based off of that particular engine I'll probably give it a shot now that it is hitting the Wii.  Even better if the extra time is used to create a real Wii build instead of just using all PS2 assets.

Legends was the best one despite some camera issues. I played it on Xbox.

I plan on trying Anniversary on Wii even though Tomb Raider really isn't my cup of tea.
