Weird.  It looks like it may be wireless, but it doesn't really say.

Well, you wouldn't be able to use it for GameCube games anyway, since they're using hardware emulation, so the machine won't recognise the bluetooth.

It might be Wavebird-style wireless. Either way, it looks wired to me. Nice that somebody had the initiative, but it's a shame it probably sucks.

It's just a white Gamecube controller, so the it would work with GCN games or even on a GCN itself. Also, the Wii doesn't emulate the Gamecube - it *IS* a Gamecube.

why do companies assume people like the "playstation" placed analog sticks.  I sure as hell don't

I love and would pay up around 30 bucks for a good, wireless, gamecube controller with rumble.  They don't need to make it look like a classic controller cause....haha....we already have one of those

They need to make an N64 classic controller.

Agreed - also agreed is that mapping Z on the N64 to L on the Gamecube is a stupid, stupid idea. Z should be Z. L should be L.

I could never lock in tWW with the ackward Z button of the GC controller.

Its more like the lock-on should always be on your left index finger.

I don't think so... The way the GameCube controller is held, vs. the way the N64 controller was held... L was the 64's "awkward" button, and Z was the GameCube's.

It'd be nice if we had options, though...

I totally agree 100%. The reason the Dual Shock controllers are set up the way they are isn't because that's the best way; it's because Sony's original PS controller was basically a tweaked version of the SNES controller layout and initiallly it lacked the analog sticks. Then when the N64 came out and changed the world forever with the thumbstick, then Sony tacked 2 analog sticks onto the PS controller and that's how it has remained to this day.

They didn't spend any time researching it to find what was the most ergonomic or anything, they just tacked it on in a half-assed way and shipped it out. Playstation fanatics just don't know any better, and many of them are too young to see how it was a rip off of the SNES and N64 controllers.
is your sanity...

Well Nintendo did make the classic pad that way.  I used to prefer the Gamecube analog stick setup but I've since changed my opinion.  The primary location is best for whatever you want to use: d-pad or analog stick.  But the problem is that the off center position REALLY sucks for a d-pad but is still okay for an analog stick.  One of those inputs has to be in the off center position so it makes more sense to pick the one that is still usable.  You either have a controller with great d-pad control and decent, though imperfect, analog control or a controller with great analog control and borderline useless d-pad control.  I'd rather have something that always works well than something inconsistent.

Though I doubt these companies actually go through the same amount of analysis that I just did.  The REAL reason they go with that design is because the PS2 made it popular.

The only reason that Nintendo put the analogue stick in the secondary position is because the Virtual Console focuses mainly on 2D games, therefore the D-Pad is way more important, and is in primary position.

This is usually where I list off the numerous reasons why the Dual Shock sucks, but I don't have time for a thousand word essay..

Well, what about the N64 controller? It was definitely a bit overcomplicated, but it handled the movement pad positions very well.

I like the N64 controller and that design made lots of sense at the time.  But how do you do that with two analog sticks?  I can't think of how to do it with the three prong setup.  Plus you couldn't use both at the same time and games like Rogue Leader and Metroid Prime make good use of the d-pad for purposes other than movement.

The N64 controller however would be PERFECT for the VC.  It would work for every VC supported system flawlessly (well maybe throw a select button on there).  I hope Nintendo plans on using the classic controller's second analog stick for Wii games because if that thing is just for the VC it's designed really stupidly.

The one on E-bay looks shady to me. I'd assume its wired since its based off the regular GCN controller. The buttons should be blue though, just to make the match the Wii. But I guess if you to want coordinate, why not?

The Thrustmaster looks more reliable. I believe they are a name brand when it comes to gamepads, so I'd stake my money on them. It'd be nice if someone *cough*NWR staff*cough* could get their hands on it and give us a review.

That wouldn't work for hands that used the Z and R buttons excessively.

on the n64 it was fine because they were operated by separate index fingers. imagine playing star fox with a GC pad and having both your left and right barrel rolls under your right index finger. Not so ergonomic is it?

Now, i haven't used a tin Classic Controller for VC games but i think it would of been a wires choice to move the Z button to a trigger position behind the D-pad. Either they should of just placed it there or also put it there, as well as being on top of the controller (ala GC). It would make playing n64 games that use Z often feel more like back in the day
