iTunes Music Store JAPAN From Philly. (J-PoP be praised!)
« on: November 01, 2006, 12:54:26 PM »
Anyone who buy's music from the iTunes music store can help me on this. So I'm looking at the store for any new music that I might like to sample, then I decide to see if iTunes had any selection of Hearts Grow(Naruto Op #9), lo and behold, there's an iTunes Store in Japan. Wait...I knew that but I was under the impression that if I lived in the US I had to shop at the US store. NO! For some strange reason my new home page for iTunes is the JAPAN store, with prices in yen to boot. I don't know if it has always been like that but that's damn cool if you like international music. All I have to do now is find out how much 300yen in $'s and I'll be good to go.

Edit: I can't get back to the US Store! My internets am Busted!

I think....mmm....isn't there a drop-down menu somewhere that lets you change stores? I think you can browse any store you want, but you can only buy stuff from your country's store.

In terms of the yen question: $1 = ¥117

In regards to music, personally I tend to shop on the Yahoo Japan auction site, although that's because I love to baragin scout and tend to prefer older releases to the newer ones. There are a number of other sites that sell imported CDs as well, like CD Japan and yesasia, but I can't think of any "digital only" sources.

hey i have a quick question to any I-Tunes shoppers.  I recently downloaded a song off of I-Tunes and i need to convert the file to anything but AAC format.  Reason being is that I hate the I-Tunes Media Player on my PC, I much prefer MusicMatch Jukebox's Media Player.  Also my Nero burner does not support AAC either which means i cannot burn it to a CD.  Any suggestions?

The easiest way I know of is to burn the song to an audio cd and then import it back in to iTunes. The new imported file will be able to do whatever it is you need.

since the ITunes songs are in a lossy format, that option is worthwhile ONLY if you're pretty much desperate (you can do it through ITunes itself I believe, maybe there's another burning oftware which does support the format).....

and since the ITunes songs have DRM, there is no legal way to get rid of them (and thus be able to change the format)

EDIT: spelling....

what's DRM? You can import into iTunes using WAV, AIFF, MP3 ACC and APPLE LOSSLESS and any of those types are interchangable. But you're talking about purchased music from the IMStore right?

DRM = Digital Rights Management, it's the thing that only allows you to copy a song X amount of times, or to be able to play it on certain players, ect. It sucks, it's evil and throws the concept of Fair Use out of the window....

yes, I was referring to the songs bought in the ITunes Store, which ARE, as far as I know  in a lossy format, and they aren't available in Apple Loseless nor any other loseless format....

Bump! I read this article (courtesy arstechnica) and thought of you, Nile Boogie.

Quote

...a back door has appeared in the Music Store itself: While iTunes Japan pegs foreign undesirables from their credit card numbers, it can't screen fake Japanese addresses provided by prepaid iTunes Card users. There's a small but ardent underground economy among Americans in dummy addresses and e-mailed scans of Japanese iTunes Cards, picked up by friends in Tokyo convenience stores or openly sold online.

There are some things I would like on a Audio DVD or in Lossless format.  Actually I pay extra for Lossless and a player that could play it.
Need a Personal NonCitizen-Magical-Elf-Boy-Child-Game-Abused-King-Kratos-Play-Thing Crimm Unmaker-of-Worlds-Hunter-Of-Boxes
