The Zero Suit Samus Collectable Statue
« on: February 19, 2007, 06:24:10 PM »
If you want to confirm with your own eyes what the "Zero" in Zero Suit implies, then have we got a collectible statue for you!

First 4 Figures has an official license to produce collectable statues based on Nintendo characters.  They've previously done other Metroid statues of Samus in her less revealing suits, but now and they've gone and done one in Samus's skin-tight blue Zero suit.  The press release and images of that is below.

And while we're talking about First 4, it seems they are underway with their next collectible Nintendo statue: Shiek.  Looks like we'll need to wait a while before we see what that'll look like, though.

First 4 Figures is extremely proud to present Samus Aran’s Zero Suit, the third collectible statues in First 4 Figures’ highly anticipated suit series based on Retro Studios’ Metroid Prime game trilogy. This version is based on the Zero Suit seen at the end of Metroid Prime 2 Echoes.

First 4 Figures has used the official game files in order to create an extremely accurate recreation of the Zero Suit. She comes armed with her signature pistol and has curves in all the right places!

The Zero Suit was first seen in Metroid: Zero Mission, ending sequences of Metroid Prime 2 and Metroid Prime Hunters, and is making an appearance in the upcoming Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

Cast in high quality poly-stone, the statue is hand finished and hand painted. Comes packed in a foam interior full colored box with a card of authenticity.

The Zero Suit is limited at only 2,500 pieces worldwide online and local specialty stores.

Artist(s): Original Metroid game data with modification by Jiang Di.

Low numbers are given out on a first come first served basis so order quickly to secure a low number.

Prototype shown and final product may vary slightly from the photos.

About First 4 Figures  First 4 Figures is a subsidiary of Puzzle Productions. Puzzle Productions manufactures and markets high quality resin figures under the brand name First 4 Figures. Included in its product line up includes famous licenses such as WWE, MAGIC: THE GATHERING, TRANSFORMERS, GI JOE, DOOM: THE MOVIE, 2000AD, THE LEGEND OF ZELDA, and METROID.

I'd look into those if the prices weren't so insane. And WTF is with those limited production runs?

Agreed, I would buy some of these figurines if they weren't so expensive.

That is pretty nice and frivolous. I would be tempted to get one, but I am way too poor and that is way too expensive.

The limited production runs mean that they're not so expensive for you.  As in, buy two, and then a few years down the line, sell one of them for three times the original price on eBay.  Some crazy collector will think it's worth it because there are so few of them.

At least, in theory.  If I wasn't at work I might confirm the prices of previous statues at eBay.

The prices are so high because they're limited.

They limit the number of them they're making because the prices are so high that they won't sell a lot.
Just some random guy on the internet who has a different opinion of games than you.

UncleBob:  You just created a Paradox.

The prices are high because of the limited production.

Yet, they limit the number of them because the prices are so high that they won't sell a lot.

So why not create more production and lower the price?  Because despite the logic that it would sell more, in actuality they wouldn't sell enough more to make a difference up in price.

Compared to the others, this one is pretty bad, mostly due to the face of Samus not looking right. To give some credit, human faces are never easy to do on a 3-D model, but for the price and their past attempts one would expect better.

Agreed that the face doesn't look right, but two thumbs up on the body!!
Silly monkeys; give them thumbs they make a club and beat their brother down. How they survive so misguided is a mystery. Repugnant is a creature who would squander the ability to lift an a eye to heaven conscious of his fleeting time here.

Unless these are painted manually or something theres no reason for having such high prices and low production numbers, if they prices were lower I would already had bought more than one.

On the subject of Samus... Has anyone noticed that the way Samus moves in SSBM is more feminine than the way she moves in the Metroid Prime games?

Because it is with such great frequency that we see Samus from the third person in the Metroid Prime games.

Bah, I prefer the $15 Zero suit statue I bought last year for Jonny in Aki anyway.
