Well, this just completely made up for Dracula X Chronicles on PSP.   Been waiting for this day for a LOOOOOOONG time.  Time to really get back into arcade DDR so I can be in good enough shape to play it when it comes out!

EDIT:
OH DAMN IT'S BASED OFF OF SUPERNOVA DANCERS AND ALL, JENNY HERE I COME!!!!

I waited years to be given even a hint of DDR for the Cube. But oh man! Who would have thought a new DDR game would be announced for Wii so soon? Then again I guess I should have seen it coming! So many super duper amazing games that make me want to shout "kowabunga!" are coming out this year! This will be the year to remember!

IGN has videos up: the dancers look pretty awkward but it looks good other than that.

I like how it tells you if you were early or late on a step now.

They probably used the basic engines from DDR Mario Mix, like TP uses WW's engine, and tweaked and changed the assets some.  That could be done within a month.  Also since I think they use Ogg Vorbis for the music encoding for that version instead of what they normally use it sort of makes since to just go ahead and make new songs because its more work to get them over anyway.  Plus they can go into your other versions later.  In fact the music quality on DDR:Mario Mix and Karaoke Revolution isn't bad at all.  Less space taken = more songs I'm all for it.

Now all we need is Karaoke Revolution and the Wii will have all the non-gamer "everyone games" my system needs .

The real question: Why don't they use the Miis as on-screen dancers instead of characters like these?

Looks more like Xbox engine to me

Simply put, the Miis are not next gen enough. They are too graphically simple and don't evoke the power of the generic DDR dancers. :p .

The Mii option would be cool. Not only would you be able to select your Mii, they should make it so that random Miis that are on your channel or on your Mii parade appear as the back up dancers.

Now that would be awesome to see.

This just seems like a no brainer when it would come to Mii inclusion.

Why not have your Mii dancing with a group of your friend's Miis in the background?

I don't know about you, but I think the Mii channel is one of those features that Nintendo will heavily use while third parties will ignore it, unless Nintendo orders them to use it otherwise.

Also, Konami is notoriously lazy when it comes to making DDR games, so I wouldn't be surprised if one of the reasons they don't add Mii support is because they don't want to create a dancing animation that works with all the Miis you have on your machine.

I know Wario uses them and the Wii uses them to the fullest, but developers can be lazy like that.
