Wii arcade
« on: November 20, 2006, 03:55:28 AM »
I don't know if you guys read this but GoNintendo has been reporting on a website that has flash games you can play on your Wii using the Wiimote and the browser.

The website has recently gone live, so here's the link:
Wii arcade

When the browser is available, can someone try it out to see if its true?

You can play them right now.  It's just your basic flash games using the mouse pointer.  The fact that they're designed for the Wiimote doesn't really change anything.

In fact, there's a lot of flash games that might be really fun with the Wiimote.

I was going to say that actually, this changes a lot. All those addictive little flash games that everyone likes to play online you can now play through your Wii! There are a lot of people that would probably get a Wii just for that functionality alone. Being able to play those games in the comfort of your living room. Wow, I mean just wow. And since you're not loosing any functionailty because the Wiimote is basically a mouse, I don't see how anyone can't see this as a major plus for the system.

If they ever upgrade the Wii browser to allow Shockwave support then screw it. Nintendo will basically have a monopoly on casual online gaming.

So far, pretty much no console has had much luck getting users to actually use an integrated web browser (namely Dreamcast and PSP) but I wonder if the mouselike functionality of the Wiimote might change that.  Especially if the option to hit the web smacks you in the face when you first look at all of your channels.

Wiindex.  That's both awesome and litigious.  I like it.

Weendex? Well, at least it's better than The Weer.
