Sorry to bump this again, but something came to me last night...

I remembered something that leads me to believe that this is indeed a Kirby stage...

I am not 100% sure, but the stones and the colors remind me of the newer Kirby games. I know I have seen those type of details in the Kirby games before. Also, might as well take a shot at it...I think Sakurai is NOT hinting at a secret character, he is hinting towards a NEW Kirby game on the Wii...

Think about it, the stage looks very Kirby-esque, but has details we have never seen before. Those details could be from the GC Kirby game that never came out but might be resurrected on the Wii. In fact on the 2007 releases thread it was mentioned that Kirby Wii was undecided for a 2007 release, meaning that the game is in development as we speak, or they moved what they had made from Kirby GC and ported it over (considering they did it with Twilight princess, Super Paper Mario and the DK Racing game).

I may be wrong with this, but the stage looks too Kirby-esque for it to be from another game or character.

Castlevania stage, wishful thinking, but Snake is in the game, so why not a Belmont?

Any CV games have a day/night system in them?
"OK, first we need someone to complain about something trivial. Golden or S_B should do. Then we get someone to defend the game, like Bill or Mashiro. Finally add some Unclebob or Pro666 randomness and the thread should go to hell right away." -Pap64

Symphony of the Night did (and I think one or both N64 games did too)  During the day, in SotN, Alucard was weaker and was normal, stronger at night.

The blue lines on the ground remind me of the Sphere Temples from Final Fantasy X... My vote is the Chef from Burger Time

The $20,000 question, though, is did any Castlevania games feature a sundial?

That would make for a genuinely interesting stage...

The thing is that the CV games are far too dark in theme and atmosphere, while this stage looks very fantasy based. If there was a CV stage in the game, it would take place inside Dracula's castle or something dark and gothic.

I'm telling you, this is not a Kirby stage. Kirby's world doesn't look like this. It's too serious. Look at Smash Bros Melee and the Kirby worlds there. They don't have this look. Let's bring up the disappointment of the disappearing Kirby GameCube game. It seems like it's been moved to the Wii but there has been no evidence supporting this. Anyways, if you go to Nintnedo's site and look under the Gamecube game list and go to Kirby, you'll find a short trailer from E3 '05. Looking at that footage, you'll see that again the artstyle doesn't match up. I've played plenty of Kirby games and unless they've made a drastic change for the new one coming out, I'm ruling this stage out as being a possible Kirby stage. Plus, I think the whole day/night sundial thing adds evidence to this. There is nothing of importance in any Kirby game of such elements. In the vanished GameCube game, the big play element was having four helpers and being able to ride them all. That has nothing to do with this stage.

I'd have thought it might be a Twilight Princess Zelda stage but I guess noght. After all, the Wind Waker had some elements on night/day and I thought that might carry over to Zelda:TP but I guess not. Right now, Raid over the River still looks like the best choice. If you look in the vidoe, this stage is also floating over a river. It just seems the elements are pointing towards that the most.

Actually, the best thing to do would be to take a page from Sherlock Holmes. Rule out, everything that it is not. Then whatever is left is the answer.

I'm guessing since no one posted a guess in this direction it probably isn't a possibility but would this have anything to do with Baton Kaitos? I've never played the game but this picture just struck as something that would fit the stage. Maybe because of the colors. But the artstyle makes it seem like it could fit this stage. Plus it is an island in the sky. What do you think?

Whoever said, "Cheaters never win" must've never met Khushrenada.

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if this was just a stage unique to the Smash Bros series, like Final Destination, the Wired Frame/Metal stage, etc.

Wouldn't be nearly as fun as guessing what game it might be related to, of course, but one can't rule out that it might not be attached at all to any current series.
