The Ultimate Nintendo Gaming Room Thread
« on: September 29, 2006, 07:46:04 AM »
I've created this thread so that avid Nintendo fans can boast about their gaming setups.  I thought it would be fun.

I've spent approximately $3500 to buy new furniture and complimentary electronics for my room, which is 157" X 124".  The room is now a 1/4 of the size that I used have before my home was remodeled.

Here's what it will feature:

(1)  37" LG LCD TV (running 720p) even if the Wii will only run 480p.

(2)  650 Watt Surround Sound RCA System (ideal for the surround sound set-up)

(3)  Extreme Package Digital Cable package from Time Warner, which currently runs at 10 Mbps and they will set-up the wireless because my Linksys died after 2 months use.  This will allow my Wii Channels to run smoothly...hopefully

(4)  Currently have a DS Lite and a regular DS.  I plan to have an additional black DS Lite (released Sept. 13th).

(5)  Planning to purchase 2 Nintendo Wii Consoles (1 for my room, 1 for the rest of my family) with 7 launch games.   I also plan to get the component cables designed to take advantage of the 480p mode, as well as an extra Wii-Mote with Nunchuk attachment.  BTW, anyone have a clue as to when Nintendo will have this available?

(6)  The seven launch games are going to be purchased in the order of importance and interest with the following:

                    # 1 - Legend of Zelda - Twilight Princess
                    # 2 - Madden NFL '07
                    # 3 - Rayman Raving Rabiids
                    # 4 - Red Steel
                    # 5 - Excite Truck
                    # 6 - Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam
                    # 7 - Far Cry Vengeance

(7)  I've spent mucho dinero on furniture that will compliment this set-up.  Anyone know of anything else that I could need for this gaming set-up?

Uh, why are you getting S-Video cable for the Wii?!
If I were you I would wait and see what type of component cable Nintendo offers, because that would be the best type of cable for the Wii, heck even for GC they are much better. Unless of course your LCD TV does not have component inputs.

For progressive scan, I haven't heard about component cables from Nintendo?

Anyone know if they will release that component cable right away.

To do 480p they'll need Component Cables.  It hasn't been announced just assumed.  They had them for the cube they shouldn't take a step back for the Wii.  In fact in my setup I need them at launch because Everything I own run through component, PS2, GCN, DVD Player, and Moxi (TiVo like unit).  It be a royal pain for me to rewire for the Wii with just plain RCA connections, its already annoying having to keep them for the sound on the Cube.

My LCD TV does have component cables...2 separate set-ups.  My receiver is dated June 2002.  I'm going to have to pick up a new one.  The only problem is...I've purchased a pretty sweet DVD player from SAMSUNG...and most receivers these days have built-in DVDs.

I would watch the Built-in DVD ones myself.  I originally got one like that that would do everything I wanted at least it stated that.  It arrived at my house and in the manual it turns around and stated that it wouldn't do Prologic II from an external source, aka not the DVD Player in it.  I had to send it back at a $50 cost.  So I picked up a cheap one at Walmart out of desperation to find one that was just a reciever and speaker.  It did Prologic II , DTS, Dolby Digital, and its been great.  So I watch out on those.
