Game Informer had an article on the prices of different system after you added on the inflation. I say semi interesting because it is more of an excuse the editors are giving why the PS3 costs so much. The only interesting thing is the GameCube if way relased today after inflation it would cost $228 instead of $199 after the adjustment. (The NES w/out ROB would cost $375)

I saw the inflation chart that was floating around the web forums. It's definitely meant to justify PS3's price, and it's also very inaccurate because technology commoditization is MUCH faster than inflation.  All the inflation prices are way off because of that.

BJ is right. Inflation doesn't really apply to technology in the same way at all, as better technologies tend to get cheaper over time.

Speaking of inflation I actually read the other day (forgot where) that it was actually hinted at that the N64 made a profit off the retail price. I don't know about you guys but that makes Wii's price a bit more bearable in comination with the inflation with GC.

Well that is why I called it a semi-interesting article. I know that technology isn't effected by inflation directly. But those who don't know about that an article like that can be misleading. (The only redeeming quality of the article is how much of a relitive chunk the console would take out of a person's pocket.)
