MP3 Program
« on: September 11, 2006, 12:25:38 PM »
I'm looking for a simple program in which I could take a small portion of a song and turn it into it's own file.

Any help for the weak?

I'd say Audacity, but that requires you to re-encode the portion of the file you're cutting...

I use GoldWave for all my sound file editing needs.  It has a free trial period.  It can't be beat.
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

unless his PC is a 486, I don't think he'd have a problem with that =P

I don't know what a 486 is... but my computer is less than 2months old so its only slightly obsolete and should be able to handle whatever needs to done.

THANKS!

People wonder why we love this site too. I'm going to try audacity first just because it was suggested first, if that doesn't work I'll move onto goldwave. My phone has an mp3 player, which I'm going to use much at all, but i don't have to download ringtones, I can use a song, but without editing I have to use an entire song just to use the first 20 seconds of it as a ringtone, and this eats the phones memory. It has a miniSD slot, and I have 1GB card, but the ringtone has to be on the phones paltry 50MB internal memory.

I say all that so you guys know just how much I appreciate the help!

Stan used to edit the podcast with Audacity before we got Macs, so it should work just fine.
