Blitz Games Working on Revolution Title
« on: February 13, 2006, 05:14:29 AM »
Specific game details will be announced "soon".

First title signed for Nintendo's forthcoming innovative console

13th February 2006. Leamington Spa, Warks. Blitz Games, one of the UK's leading independent game development studios today announced the signing of its first title for Nintendo's next generation Revolution console. Details of the game itself will be announced shortly by a major publisher.

Andrew Oliver, co-founder and Development Director of Blitz Games commented, "We're genuinely very excited to be working on the Revolution. Nintendo's innovation over the years has trail blazed new concepts and the new controller is no exception. It will give people new ways to play existing genres but moreover we hope it will spawn altogether new gaming experiences.

Philip Oliver, CEO Blitz Games added, "This latest addition to our portfolio clearly signals that Blitz is one of the few major developers with the capability and technology to work on both next and current generation titles simultaneously. Our strategy of a fully featured, well structured tool chain and cross platform engine has really paid off and we are quickly able to incorporate these new platforms with relative ease making our development faster and more efficient."

Blitz Games currently employs over 150 staff and is actively recruiting in all areas. The company was recently awarded 'Biggest Contribution to Games' by its peers and competitors at TIGA (The Independent Games developers Association).

They did Bad Boys II. How in the world did they get an award??

Maybe their game will be Barbie and you can use the controller to brush her hair. . . gag

This is a list of the games they made. Doesn't look good for them but I guess more games means more shelf space taken up so this is still good...

I actually know someone who tried to convince me that Fusion Frenzy is better than Mario Party.  I kicked him in the groin.
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

* Puts on steel cup *

I have more fun with Fusion Frenzy than with Mario Party. I'm glad I paid less than $10 for it though. Its fun to pull out with a group and play through the list of games.

I suppose I should admit that the last Mario Party I played was on the 64.

*EDIT* Geeze, I have fun with Bloodwake, too. Guess my taste in games is horrible. Must be why I bought Dark Summit . . .

"I kicked him in the groin."

I'm glad Mario Party induced such civil action between human beings.  You sir, are an ALLY OF JUSTICE.

Score another point for Mario Party.  Fusion Frenzy happily lives in that pit of Xbox launch damnation along with Azurik and Bloodwake.

While I know you all want mega-names and mega-brands, do NOT discount smaller third parties like Blitz games. Nintnedo isn't making the Rev just for big third parties, but have instead issued a general challenge to small developers as well to make games on their system. With a brand new, revolutionary input system, Nintendo's insistence on cheap and easy dev processes and their ambition to recover some of their past glory, Nintendo WANTS small developers as well as big ones on their system. Don't forget that Reggie has been pushing that in his speeches forever.

And sometimes, small developers are really diamonds in the rough. DMA? They were a scottish company that made the overlooked Space Station Silicon valley and Body Harvest on N64. Now they've changed the industry with their GTA 3 title. Silicon Knights? They made a couple early PSX games before Nintendo asked them to make ED, and now they're headlining with people anticipating Too Human, no matter what you think of their development style.

So please, Blitz games could turn out to be nothing after all, but they hardly deserve any derision.

The sun, for sorrow, will not show his head:
Go hence, to have more talk of these sad things;
Some shall be pardon'd, and some punished:
For never was a story of more woe
Than this of Sega and her Mashiro.

Kairon: Silicon Knights and DMA had good titles under their belt before their recent hits (Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen and Lemmings, respectively). I haven't played any of Blitz's titles but the reviews were pretty negative.
