New Gameboy and DS Camera?
« on: June 10, 2005, 03:43:10 PM »
I know everyone remembers the GB camera. cheap black & white camera that really had no use to anyone other that quick very low res pictures that you could print onto a sticker.

But now that we have the GB micro and the DS maybe it time to try out that camera idea again.  That would be one more thing that the DS or GBM could do that the PSP couldn't.  With DS you could even do picture editing.
I bring this up because of the soon to be released Play-Yan, that that is supposed to turn both GBM & DS into multi-media machines.
I also bring this up because it has just been pointed out to me that while the Play Yan uses SD cards, there are camera's that are built onto SD cards that store directly to the card, as seen >>HERE<<

I was wondering what do you think of the possibility of Nintendo making/liscensing one of these for use with their existing/future product line?  Picture taking on GBM/DS w/ Picture editing on DS, Video Capture & editing?, Video chat on DS, Picto chat with actual pictures? there are all kind of possibilities with this now....

what do yo guys think

p.s. sorry if this is not making as much sense as it should, @ work typing a little at a time, and I think alot faster than I type

I didn't know it was that old, it was just pointed out to me yesterday. I had never seen one before. but that still doesn't violate the original question.

Or perhaps it's been cancelled after they decided it's a bad idea?

Considering the cameras you can get for cheap nowadays a 1 or 2 MP camera would be awesome. And the DS can be made to print off a regular printer.

Well hopefully Nintendo doesnt make another stupid gameboy printer. But if nintendo makes one hopefully they have a SD card slot because then you can go to a CVS,walmart, Target,Walmart or whatever  so you can stick your SD card into the photo center that prints out the pictures for you.

The sending to the printer idea would work if you have a wireless network setup at home.

Well a DS camera would have to use the GBA slot for the camera. So, if it is made to work with a GBA but still have DS features, then that would be a good buy.

they did talk about making future GBA games forward compatible with the DS, in that if it were to be plugged into a DS it could take advantage of some DS capabilities (wifi, dual screen, touchscreen).
So I don't see it against them to make a camera that works with the GBA (play-yan specifically) and has increased functionality when used with a DS.

If it uses a memory card then you don't need a computer.
