Paladin, I understand your point of view, let me explain mine.

The Gamecube version of Zelda shown in 2000 was a farse.  The way that I look at it, the problem was that Nintendo didn't stick to the more "adult" style featured in that trailer.  Is Wind Waker a bad game?  No.  Was public perception hurt because Nintendo decided to go in a completely different direction than what they had led the public to believe was going to be the next Zelda game?  Yes.  I tend to think that that doesn't happen too often - that when you release trailers and screen shots, or when "Company X" releases those things, they tend to reflect how the final product will look and play.  Wind Waker should have been the 2nd Zelda out on GC.  If they had any doubts about the direction that they wanted to go with Zelda back in 2000, then yes, it was a huge mistake putting out that trailer.

Generally speaking, though, would you not agree that previews, "leaked" information, trailers and the like generally help a game, as far as hype is concerned?

guys you have to remember one thing the DS is what 4 months old? i dont think PSP is a  big threat as everyone makes it to be , sure its going to be new competition to nintendo in the handheld market and even if many people compare it to the Gameboy vs GameGear war witch GG had better graphics bigger screen better sound , no PSP is nothing like the gamegear remember its made by the people who stole the console market from nintendo yes sony
they like microsoft have money to burn so even if the psp fails sony would attemp another comeback for a shot at the handheld market because nintendo owns it thats how its gets by even by being 2nd in the console race ,but remember its gonna take more than movies&mp3 and straight ps2 ports to take that market away. why?? cause nintendo is taking you to places you never been showing you a new route while sony takes the easy route by making  the PSP the all in one handheld machine witch we still have to see how it will be standing 2-3 years from now when people start realising WOW! the DS is a inovative handheld that triggers your brain and happiness of handheld gaming i think nintendo should stop making ports of N64 games only the one's worth buying like zelda Oot
maybe re-releasing Goldeneye with better graphics (not that rare would port it and EA has the rights to GE oh well we can only dream can't we) developers are starting to play with the DS features they want unique games not just ports thats why is taking a little longer for new games to come out from 3rd party you guys gotta have faith in Nintendo they got us in this mess they got to get us out LOL, but seriously let give it a little more time se how the future will be for the ds and i dont think is going to be like the virtualboy like alot of people have said i probably was one of the fourtonate's to play mario tennis for the VB and Jack Bro's.(even though it would put a strain my eyes i would play it Sh!t it was a good run while it was here)
