In Japan Enterbrain reports first week sales of 145,000 copies.

As for NA, NPD hasn't released Data on RE4 as of yet, as far as I know.

In Japan it's selling lower than RE0 did so far, and is dropping positions on the daily charts every day, but hopefully word of mouth will spread and more people will pick it up because it really deserves to sell more. January NPD data containing RE4 sales for January will be released in a few weeks.

If there is gonna be a PS2 version. Capcom is having quite a difficult time with the port to PS2.

I think 145,000 for first week in Japan is prety good, it seems to indicate that the game will get in the 800K-1M range WW

It doesnt suprise me that they are having trobule porting it to PS2, it will be much easier porting to X-box.  They are gonna have to make a choice, water it way down and have a decent framerate, or water it down a little and have an awful framerate.  RE4 was built from the ground up for gamecube, and it takes advantage of the superior hardware in every way.  PS2 just doesnt have the guts to pull it off.

I dont think capcom will port it to Xbox because Capcom's Xbox games dont exactly sell.

Who knows? Capcom has a couple of games coming out for both the ps2 and xbox and not the cube.

Personally, I want the ps2 version to sell at least ok.  If the game bombs, and it's because it was a port of the cube version, this might tell Capcom to make the ps2 version first, and then, if at all, port it to the cube.  We don't get many Capcom game as it is.

I find that when it comes to third party games the spin doctors always find a way to justify shafting the Cube.  If the PS2 version sells poorly it's because it's a Cube game.  If it just kills the Cube version in sales then it proves that the PS2 is the better system to release the game on and thus the series should leave the Cube.  If both sell poorly Cube support gets the axe to make up the losses.  If both sell great then more Cube exclusives should be ported to the PS2.

What's funny is even after halving Leon's model from 10k to 5k polygons, it still has more than Snake's model from MGS3.

Same thing with TS, PS2 owners shrugged it off because it was made using a modded MGS2 engine but it was proberly twice as many polygons at MGS3

The game would have sold a lot better if only Capcom would have kept it exclusive, or kept its stupid mouth shut about a PS2 port.  Now everyone with half a brain (most of the gaming public) is going to wait for the PS2 version.

So yeah I bought RE4 today. So add about 1000 copies to the total sales count (it's like TV ratings right? Where they just follow a few people's shows and then multiply those people by 100 to guess what other people are also watching lol)
