Monkey Island 3 on the DS?
« on: February 15, 2005, 10:27:05 AM »
I just read something about Monkey Island 3 on the DS.

Just click "nintendo ds" in Google News Search and click "sort by date".

I was just able to read it right now, but for some reason, literally only a few seconds later they required you to register.

Heh... if someone by any chance registers, feel free to copy and paste the story here.

MONKEY ISLAND 3 SWINGING ONTO DS?
Quote

German website N-DS is reporting that a representative from LucasArts recently told a UK journalist from NGC magazine that the developer was experimenting with a version of Monkey Island 3 on DS. If that went well, other titles from LucasArts' back catalogue could be heading to the handheld.
Upon reading the article, it doesn't seem likely.  They called 3 different sources and everyone's response was pretty much "we haven't the foggiest idea what you're talking about".

Hot damn! Wasn't I just talking about this in a thread a while ago???   God this is so freaking sweet if it is true.  These may be ports, but these are ports of games I haven't played for years that are basically unplayable in any other form.....  This just made my day...  Please please please be true...

If LucasArts can't be bothered to release the new Sam & Max game (which is reportedly 90% complete) I doubt they're interested in porting a game that didn't sell to well in the first place to a Nintendo console.  It could happen.  But I wouldn't hold my breath.

Ok so, VideoGamerJ (a forum member) has this... http://dsupdate.net/ site in his profile...  He posted a news story up top....  The point of me posting this is how obviously fake the screen shots are... blah...this aint true if it has fake screenshots to try and back it up.

They site this site...

which apparently may have started teh fiasco yesterday...

Is that the original style of the game?  It looks pretty damn cool, fake or otherwise.

Yeah, its original.... they only reason i'm so confident its fake is that the resolution is so high.  Those are most likely just screen grabs from the PS2 or PC versions.

It's obvious they're fake because the treasure chest is on the top screen. How are you going to use your items, by wishing at them?

I just played Monkey Island 3 all over again last summer. What a bloody awesome game. O Lucasarts... how the mighty have fallen.

I have to admit, I've never played any of the Monkey Island games.  Sad, I know.  I truely enjoyed Grim Fandango though, so I should probably check these games out someday.  They can be had for about $10 each, so it's not a bad deal.

Make that someday today. They're worth it.

I love Grim Fandango to death; it's tied with Metroid Prime for my favorite game ever.

I can't--I'm only halfway through Pikmin 2 and Half-life 2.  I haven't even started Resident Evil 4 or Minish Cap.  Maybe tomorrow.

EDIT:  And I still need to go back and get the second ending from Tales of Symphonia.

I honestly don't see what's so great about Monkey Island 3. I found it to be a rather mediocre point'n click adventure game. I would rather have them give us the two previous Monkey Island games for the DS instead, or even a complete new installment would be more preferable.

My version of Grim Fandango was messed up.  Someday I'll try all of these out though, they look incredible.
