So Thoughts about Turok
« on: September 29, 2004, 04:55:37 PM »
Its just a matter of time till Acclaim sells its IPs just like 3DO did, I know Nintendo has a stand on not buying others works, but im thinking Nintendo should make an exception with Turok

Sure the last one was terrible, but the series has a long standing with the N64....  and Nintendo could use a FPS type to its advantage...

I've said this before(Ninty should buy Turok), because I still think Turok has lots of potential that Acclaim wasted away... :\

It would be like buying a lump of poo, if you put wheels on it you can make an awesome poo mini go kart, but nobody wants it because it used to be poo.

Nintendo would turn Turok into a Tetris clone for GameCube. Turok would be replaced with Pokemon, and the title of the game would be Pokemon Tetris Clone Cubed starring Turok. Turok would only appear in the instruction manual, informing everybody that he is Turok.

Turok? You mean that stupid FPS game with weak weapons where you have to find every last secret in a level to complete it?

Yeah I think that's the game at question.

Actually, I'm enough of a fanboy to believe Nintendo could turn anything into gold if they tried hard enough. So it might actually work.

They shouldn't bother though. Talk about a franchise that's been drug through the mud and then sent through the wringer a few times too many. I'm actually still waiting for the first level in the last Turok game to load...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Turok ISN'T (or wasn't) Acclaim's IP. It was someone else's and they actually took Turok AWAY from Acclaim because of the mass suckitude of the games.

Toruk 1 for N64 was a awsome game back in 97
No console FPS came close, plus came with a nice gory comic yummy
Pity they had to change the story line
Orginally No.2 was baised after he threw the ultimate gun *forget its name* into the volcanoe
For some silly reason they changed it.

Thu Toruk Rage wars was wicked, esp if your friends were also into FPS
Use to play Ragewars over Goldeneye 007 for like 3months when it first came out, till It got repeative (learning pop up spots and such)

I think Turok would be a good purchase for Nintendo...but the company would need a developer interested in working on it.  I don't think Turok is really Nintendo's cup of tea, but maybe Retro or NST would be interested in developing a new game in the series.
That's my opinion, not yours.

Replace the dinosaurs with Yoshi's and the bullets with candy and Turok with Wa-Luigi and BAM, you have a NEW game for NESTRENDY GAMINGCUB.

DeadlyD: My Turok 2 manual talked about Turok throwing the Chronoscepter into a volcano, thereby awakening the Oblivion. Then Oblivion killed Turok and his son has to fight the evil Alien. What did your version say?

However, there was zero gore in the german version. Everything was just robots and robot dinosaurs (you blew the skin off the TRex and metallic bones were revealed, I was later told that in the real version the Campaigner was the only robot...).

No, but Nintendo could turn it into one... But they could just as well take something like Daikatana, Tomb Raider or the Matrix, which have about the same "fame" attached to them...

Yeah, Turok is owned by some comic book company or other

turok was from Valiant comics if im not mistaken, same guys behind X-O Manowar... and a bunch of other Stuff.. Acclaim actually bought them, and created Acclaim Comics for a while.

Anyways it seems parts of Acclaim might be bought out according to IGN... So maybe my idea probably is mostly wishfull thinkin...

I dont have the booklet anymore
I really dont remember the manual just the story line of the game from ingame scene's
Gotta say that Oblivion was 1 hard boss thu

The blood in the pal version of Toruk 2 was alot tamer, gotta love the blood coming out of the ears/side of the neck on toruk 1, just kept coming out for like 10secs

Ahahahahahaha, reminds me of seeing Jackie Chan cosplaying as Chun Li and E. Honda in some lame Hong Kong action movie a few days ago. And I thought I'd seen everything ^________^
