Why would they put both Bean Machine games in there?

Man we just can't win with third party games.

If it's for the PS2 it's either exclusive or it later gets released on the Xbox but not the Cube.

If it's for the Xbox it's either exclusive or if it gets released for the Cube it's inferior.

If it's multiplatform it's either designed with the PS2 or the Xbox in mind and the Cube never gets the best version.  Or the Cube version is released months later.

If it's for the Cube it will ported to the PS2 (and possibly the Xbox) at a later date in a superior director's cut.

Not entirely true.  There are some multiplatform games where the Cube is the best version; like Sonic Heroes and Prince of Persia (there are others).  Thanks to The Real Shadow Fox!

"Prince of Persia"

Where did you read that?  It had compressed sounds and lower polygon counts vrs the xbox's version.  Sure there was some GBA connections bonuses but did you really need health regeneration in that game?

Sony's policy doesn't allow for late ports, they demand enhancements if a PS2 port is late. They're abusing their market power since Nintendo or MS could never pull that without the third party running away and hating them for the rest of the generation.

Soul Calibur 2.

Nintendo did the same thing during the N64 generation.  But that's not why third parties stopped support.

- If a game does poorly on the Cube, and loses money, the company wants to avoid bankruptcy... it does a quick port to PS2 or Box.

Sonic Mega Collection on GC has sold half a million copies in the US.

I think what happens with all these third parties making exclusives on 1 system and then porting to the others is just to make consumers believe, "hey cool this game is exclusive for my system, I'm more interested in it now."  And then when it sells as best it can they decide to port it.  If it sold good then it should sell well on the next platform, if it sold bad then theres a chance the money could be made up on a port.

IGN's head-to-head (not that I subscribe to IGN...lol) said the GC version was the best.  Sure, the Xbox had a higher poly count in some areas (mostly the prince having separated fingers and more rounded limbs), but overall, it said the GC looked better due to better textures and a brighter, more colorful world.
