Diamond Cup - Finish 1st on standard or expert on all 3 starting cups...

AX Cup - Unlock all the AX courses, and this cup will become unlocked...(To unlock AX courses to buy, you must first come in 1st on Master difficulty on all 4 cups)

Going to ressurect this instead of creating a new one.

Are there AX racers in the game?  And what do you get when you beat all the AX cups on all difficulties. . . I recall hearing something about music?

Yes all the AX racers are in F-Zero GX. You unlock them by finishing the Story Mode chapters on Very Hard mode, and for beating the AX cup you get to buy "sounds of big blue" from the shop. I dont know what it is because i havent bought it yet, im spending all my credits on AX racers.

Sorry to revive an old topic here, but I have no idea where else to ask. I bought the 'Sounds of Big Blue' a few months ago, but I don't know where it is or how to use it. I'm pretty preoccupied, so I never got around to seeing how to use it/what it does. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

To listen to sounds of Big Blue go to the Big Blue stage (there may be more than one Big Blue track; I don't remember) on the select track screen.  On the screen that shows all the info for the track there should be a diagram of the z button at the top.  It's hard to notice if you don't know it's there.  Anyway pushing z before selecting the track toggles which song you'll hear while racing on Big Blue.

There are two, methinks, not including AX tracks, which I'm not sure about.

time to ressurect an old topic--again.

i'm stuck on chapter 3 of the story mode:  high stakes in mute city.  i almost always come in first at the end of the first lap, but by the end of the race, i'm towards the bottom of the rankings.  i'm assuming the problem lies in my use of boosts.  i've tried to hang behind and see what the cpu does, but it appears as if they have unlimited boost energy, so i can't copy what they do.  i take all of the jumps, including the last two that the computer doesn't take.  however, even when i'm in first coming around that last turn, the computer starts to boost and blows right by me.  i have my machine settings all the way to high speed.

does anyone have any advice to beat this chapter?  are there any shortcuts that i'm missing?  any way to take advantage of the ai?  thanks.

Thanks Ian. I love that song so much.

Chapter 3 was a hard one for me. I booted up my max speed, and just practised for hours until I got it perfect. I got to a point where I could turn the corners/boost constantly for the first half of the course, and not crash on the second half. Also, I have a habit of boosting just before the jumps, then putting my nose down in mid-air as to gain speed. I'm not enitrely sure, but I think it works pretty well.

I had the problem of the computers overtaking me at the end as well, but I just kept on trying until I was far enough ahead to snag it.

thanks for the advice; i'll try again tonight.

i was playing some more last night, after i posted, and i notice that the computer seems to get lots of extra distance off the corner jumps than i can pull off and when they land they're going near full speed.  is it a cheap computer thing, or is there a trick i'm unaware of?  i know during jumps i can push up on the control stick to gain speed/drop faster and down on the control stick to go slower/keep altitude, but is there a trick to do both?

Actually it's faster to not press the control stick at all while you're jumping.

Chapter 3 is a whole lot easier if you put the bar all the way to the left, max acceleration and low top speed.

thanks for the tip mario.  i was finally able to beat that damn chapter.

everything i had read told me to put the bar all the way to the right, low acceleration and high top speed.  stupid everything.
