New Forum Poll
« on: February 20, 2004, 05:58:46 AM »
Click the "view forum polls" link at the top to vote. I'm interested in seeing how many of you own just GCs since third parties seem to think that they can just wait a couple months to release the GC version and then get surprised when it doesn't sell well. I can't say we'll do anything with information, but you crazy people wanted polls so here you go.

Anyway, thanks for the new poll.  Can we assume that the result of the last poll was "no new boards"?

I'd say that for this, probably not.  I'm interested in seeing what systems you're buying games for, but if you think you'd buy Xbox games to play over there, you could vote.

Ouch, I"m guess I'm currently one of the few who has all gameplatforms. But when something is out on all platforms and I'm interested in it. I only get the Gamecube version.

Even if the PS2 or X-Box version looks & sounds better and/or features extras that aren't available on the GameCube build?

To get more people to respond, is it possible to put the poll on the main page?  Honestly I didn't even no you guys did polls.  In fact because of the no poll thread clause, I subconciously equated PGC as antipoll.  That ain't right some of my best friends are polls.

We really don't focus much on polls.  I don't know how many months it's been since we did the last one.  It's not important enough for us to stick them on the main page, and I only added this because of my personal curiosity and users requesting new polls.

As far as poll threads go, those are a different story. All they do is junk up the forums, leaving people searching for good topics.  Plus, the polls tend to be made by new users and almost always ask the same questions.

Oh yeah, I agree that the poll threads are usually pretty bad and understand why you lock them.  The reason I asked about the main page is that often people will be at PGC but won't be logged in or take notice of a new thread.  The guest numbers are usually pretty high and those people aren't voting.

Yes even if. I'm not a really big fan of extras. I came to play a game for the most part for it story and interaction as long as these are not bad I will get it.

So you might guess aside for the urge to play Halo every now and then the Xbox is mainly a dust collector in my collection.

Ugh the Quizno Subs dead hampsters.

I haven't invested in other systems simply because I don't really have time to play all the GC games I get.  However, if I did have multiple systems, you can bet I'd be looking for the best version every time.  Most ports get the shaft, and I'd rather have one done by the original team than some half-finished product that was sent to a port team to re-code.

Speaking of shafted ports, last night, one of my friends rented several copies of Wolfenstein for Xbox, since it said it supports 16 players.  Well, after spending half an hour trying to set up a six player game, we went to the website and learned that there's absolutely no split-screen mode and if you want 16 players, you're going to need 16 Xboxes.  Now I know this isn't something the PC version had or anything, but from a console gamer's perspective, it's absolutely ridiculous to require anyone to have access to that many machines.  So anyways, we went back to eight player Mario Kart (which despite it's shoddy implementation, can at least be done with only two Cubes.)

well i voted cube, ps2 and pc, allthough i'll probably end up getting an xbox at some stage, and as for which platform i chose for multiplatform i do it like this, i'll get the PC version over both cube and ps2, but out of cube and ps2 directly i'll usually get cube, but then factor the cube's stance in Australia and you can see why i own a ps2, to get the games i wanted for cube but wern't released out here (Futurama and i-Ninja to mention two)

also if i see something cheap for ps2 that's available for cube at a higher price i'll grab it, for example i just got Capcom vs SNK for $30, compared to $96 they wanted for the cube version :\

DrZoidberg: Futurama isn't on GC in any region, I-Ninja is PS2 exclusive in Europe due to bribery.

It was already hard enough to convince my parents that there's a point in having a console in addition to the PC, even if I wanted I couldn't get another device with their consent. Not that I want to, anyway.

GC, Xbox, and PC right here. I even play dreamcast sometimes. I guess you could call me a "non-sony" gamer.

Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64, Nintendo Gamecube, Dreamcast, PC.  I really dont have a lot of time to play games that much.  I did recently go back to resident evil zero.  I also am playing Americas Army on the PC.  Pretty decent game.

i find it oddly funny that out of the 104 people who have voted thus far, not a single person owns a gamecube and an xbox (unless they also own a gaming pc/ps2).  or at least no one admits to it.
