Arcade Games

Does anyone even go to the Arcade anymore?
If so, Whats new out there that I should check out?
If not, Why not? How can we improve this industry?
Or is that industry basically dead now?
So many questions!!

Its a sega game thats from dreamcast
its a robotwarz when you are inside the robot and you vs other people who plays the game online or play aganst the computer.
if you had a dreamcast and have the game you can customize your own robot and take you memory card to the arcade and play with your own robot.
i think its called gun genetsue ( i think, i really cant remeber the name of the game but its awsome and some of the game is in japanese)

Nice... Sounds sweet. Is that arcade around anymore?
You guys ever play that Virtual Row Boat game.. That game has given me blisters and sore arms!
There are some wild arcarde games, but the last one I played was Soul Calibur 2. (Man did I get addicted to that)
I don't really like DDR though, or any of that really. Though I did play this virtual boxing game that was sweet, and a virtual sword playing game that was hard but cool.

EEk! A Double Post! Sorry guys.
About the whole GC connectivity thing, I really liked how the arcade incorporated Memory cards but it didn't get anywhere far. Wouldn't that be sweet if the next SSMB came out for the arcade too and you could raise your stats and get ranks for how many loses and wins and stuff. It would work for Multiplayer on the console/lan/arcade. Ehh, that's a lot of money. It's more of a dream and a hope, than a reality thing. Just thought I would throw that in with the arcade subject.

I don't know how PSO figures into an arcade discussion but anyway here's my take on arcades.

I used to love them and would go to them fairly regularly.  I rarely had money as a kid so I didn't play as much as other people but at the very least I liked hanging out in arcades.  Not only did they often have a cool atmosphere but some of my favourite games like X-Men and WWF Wrestlefest were only available as arcade games.

I don't really go now.  Why?  Well first of all the local arcade I used to go to closed down.  A Chuck E. Cheese has opened up in my town but I don't go there because it's always full of little kids and it looks pretty odd for a full grown man to walk in on his own.  However what really turned me off arcades was the cost.  Games started costing 50 cents and then a whole dollar.  I'm sorry but if I've never played a game (ie: I suck at it) and I'm not even sure it will be any good I'm NOT going to pay a whole dollar just to test it out.  A quarter is cheap enough for a test run but not a buck.

If they went back to making each game a quarter then I would be back in a second.  Actually that Chuck E. Cheese I mentioned IS doing that but again I don't like people thinking I'm a pedophile so I don't go, but I would otherwise.  And don't give me this crap about fancy sit-down arcade machines being too expensive to make to only charge a quarter.  Outrun and After Burner both had fancy moving sit-down units and neither of them ever cost more than a quarter back in the day.  Plus having me play two games for fifty cents is better than me not playing at all because I think it's too expensive.

Isn't that the truth?...Ah, the memories of heading down to the local arcade with a pocketfull of quarters...Nowadays, that pocketfull will pay for maybe 3 games...

Plus, the arcade has really gone downhill...The only thing that I like in the arcade anymore is DDR, and I can play that at home...

Hah, yeah I see where you are coming from Ian. I didn't even think about that last night, but man is it true. A dollar is a rip off. I saw Time Crisis 3 (Maybe 4, the newest one I dunno) and it was a $1.00 per person. So let's see what I'm paying for here... What, 5-7mins of hitting a petal and pulling a trigger at a tv? The only thing I think should be 50cents are the virtual reality type machines, but they should make it more worth playing. (More health or something) Bill is right though, the arcade has really gone downhill. =/ The only reason I played Soul Calibur 2 soo much at the arcade is becuase it took Nickels and thought they were quarters.. (And so did a few select games in the arcade) Do you guys ever think Arcades will come back, maybe coming back when virtual reality comes into our world. (Man, Woulnd't this be expensive!? You pay like $5 Per Round at Cedar Point for a crappy vitrual reality! Then again you pay $2 for a fing water there too)
