I just won a Gamecube and 3 games from EGM contest!
« on: February 08, 2004, 09:05:34 AM »
I just won a Gamecube and 3 games from EGM contest! I won a gamecube, Wind Waker, Mario Kart Double Dash and Viewtiful Joe. Any game pruchasing suggestions? Right now I am only interested in getting some Nintendo and SEGA stuff for the system but I am open to any suggestions. I saw Mystic heroes for like 25 bucks used and Im thinking of grabbing it if I dont grab Super Monkey ball 2 for 20 at Target.

I own a Xbox and 43 games so it will complment very well. My brother just snagged a Dreamcast so Im just about all set for this gen. I am also very cheap so thrifty deals are a plus with me. I like to visit www.cheapassgamer.com to read up on sales, coupons and price drops inside the the brick and mortar stores. I thought I would pass that helpful info along to my gamecube buddies. Its not a site where you buy games. it just tells you where all the offline deals can be found. Im not trying to advertise here- just trying to show Im friendly with a goodwill gesture. I like to save people money and am very famous on certain forums for helping people do just that. Saving money makes me extremely happy and it extends to everyone.lol

I need some RPG's for sure and anything japanese themed.

Since you didn't really leave a hint at what genres you like, I'll leave a few suggestions of all types...

-Skies of Arcadia (Sega) - RPG
-Metroid Prime (Ninty/Retro) - First person adventure/shooter
-Super Smash Brothers Melee (Ninty) - Fighter
-F-zero GX (Ninty/Sega) - Racing
-Resident Evil/0 (Capcom) - 3rd-person Survival Horror
-Super Mario Sunshine (Ninty) - 3rd person Action/Adventure

RPGs are sort of slim right now, but more are coming...Don't forget to pick up Tales of Symphonia in July!

First off, you've immediately become my most hated poster.  But secondly, i'm curious about which 43 xbox games you own.  That may give us a better measure of what games you like{though anyone owning 43 xbox games gives me the shivers}

I pretty much own alot of FPS games, anything with a gun, some RPG's (like Kotor, Morrowind, and Dues Ex) and ahck n slash games on the Xbox. I pretty much like every genre except for realistic sports titles, non-arcadey racing games and point n' click adventures. I like both western and japanese games both mainstream and niche- even ultra niche. I like alot of hardcore gamers fav titles, mainstream games and everything in between. Cute , mature, it doesn't matter to me.

My gamer history bio:
Atari 2600
NES
Genesis
N64
PC
Xbox
Gamecube

I also play alot of SNK/Neo geo stuff and love the arcades.

Is Mystic heroes any good? Im looking for anohter Dynasty Warriors style game as I LOVE Dynasty Warriors to death.

Mystic heroes is okay.  I believe its 4 players as well.  I game alone, so i'm not positive.  Super smash bros an absolute must.  Timesplitters 2 if you dont have it already.  Need for speed hot pursuit or underground.  Burnout 2 , Super monkey ball 1 and 2 for sure.  Metroid and eternal darkness are must haves, just plain classics.  Pikmen, Animal crossing, RE Remake and RE0.  In fact, all REs if you never played them.  Sonic mega collection and Midway arcade treasures for some old school goodness.  Dead to rights is a fun diversion, as is Hitman 2.

43 games. . . dang.

If you check out the Gamecube discussion thread, there's a thread near the top about "What game should I get?"  Check that out, if you want.

But some personal suggestions are Metroid Prime, F-Zero GX, Kirby Air Ride, Super Mario Sunshine, Super Smash Brothers Melee (definitely.  No way you should not get this game), and Luigi's Mansion, among many more. . . oh, and Super Monkey Ball is really cool.

Also, if you don't have a Gameboy Advance, check out the Gameboy Player.  Got some good games. . . Mario and Luigi Supersaga is an awesome RPG, and other games like Metroid Fusion and Fire Emblem are available as well.  As for RPGs for Gamecube. . . Skies of Arcadia is out, and Crystal Chronicles is out relatively soon, I think.  I'm not sure, though, because I'm not a big RPG fan (Superstar Saga was my first one all the way through).

Good luck!

One disc was a preorder bonus for Wind Waker...That one included OoT and Master Quest

Another can be collected by registering 2 GC games that have a special pin number in them(Check Nintendo.com for details)...That one included LoZ, AoL, OoT, and MM...

Dang Ill have to get those sometime then. Are they enhanced in anyway? I had both Zelda's for my N64 but sold Majora's Mask. I really want that game back.

Do I have to pay money for that disc once I input the pin numbers? Does that offer end anytime soon?

1)  The 64 games are in high-res, so they look sharp instead of blurry...

2)  Once you set up a MyNintendo account at Nintendo.com, all you need to do is input your pin numbers(and register your GC)...No hidden fees...I don't know when it ends, but it would be wise to do it as soon as possible before it does...
