Gamecube Pros and Cons?

Hi

I am going to buy a system.  Can anyone give me some suggestions?
Gamecube is the cheapest by far and there are only a few games I want mostly sports games and games like Vice City.

A PS2 friend of mine is telling me not to get Gamecube. He says many sports and games like Vice City are not on gamecube.

I like the price and I know that Madden 2004 is on Gamecube cause I played it!

What do you guys think? I will only buy 1 machine.  He says Gamecube doesn't get games ported over like the other 2, and says Gamecube is for kids.

I would love to hear your views.
