NES AV Cable
« on: November 01, 2003, 07:55:35 PM »
Hi, I was wondering if any of you knew of a "NES AV" to "VCR style AV"(red/yellow/white) "adaptor"? I only have one TV that still has the old AV hook up, and it just doesn't seem to work well (shaky images and whatnot).

Thanks =)

I don't have my NES here to check, but I thought that the NES RCA plug ins were the same as current generation plugins?  If you are complaining because you are missing a plug... well... I suppose I won't say what I am thinking.  I'll just mention that involves 2 glass cups, a hammer, and plenty of water.

Yellow = Video
Red = Right Stereo
White = Left Stereo

Yellow = Video
Red or White = Mono Audio.

Yes there is RCA (In Mono form) on the side of the NES.
Stupidity is lost on my. Then again I'm almost always lost.

Yeah, I have AV cables for my NES...Though I can't really tell the difference in quality between the use of cables...

No the NES generally comes with a single cable, atleast the ones I've purchased did. It goes into the same "jack" as your cable TV, or Satellite in my case

And I know what the different colors mean I can differentiate between shapes also

Really? Thats too bad... the problem I'm having seems like poor contact between the cable and the jack in the TV.  But then the TV comes through just fine, so maybe its a problem with the NES.

Oh yeah, mine comes with those jacks, I don't have anything to stick in them, though.  Nothing that did me any good anyway.

Ok, I'm just going to go ahead with the suggestion to gargle broken glass.  Available for about $5 from just about anywhere.

Nevermind, after playing around with the cable I managed to get it to contact more solidly (I just hope nothing blows up now). Thanks for all the replies. Also I guess top-loading NES' are a bit different, they don't have all the same output options (I assumed they would, but I couldn't find it)

I guess we can't all be as brilliant as you, or boast your shining array of accomplishments. You're not still mad because I'm not sure if Crystal Chronicles is good, are you?

No, actually I couldn't even remember what I was talking to you about before.  I just have no patience with stupidity on such a grand scale.

And now you're lying =)

I didn't realize not knowing something made someone stupid. I've had limited experience (outside of plugging it in and having it work) with this specific subject. However, believe it or not, I'm actually fairly well learned in electrical engineering; mostly in directly PC related electronics, though(Processor, HDD, CD, etc).  Although alot of that knowledge was gained because I very much enjoy embedded systems programming.

I can't really remember wronging you in any way, you attacked me in the "Another RPG" thread, and you've done the same here. If I insulted you in someway, please tell me that I might apologize and perhaps explain. I never intended to make an enemy of you.

No, I'm serious.  When I entered this thread, I remembered your name and avatar, and I remembered I was frusterated with you over something, but I couldn't remember what it was.  When I saw your question, the answer was immediately obvious to me, and I thought it would be immediately obvious to just about anyone.  I gave you enough information to figure it out yourself, and sent you on your way, mainly because I figured that you deserved to be ripped off by Buy-rite if you couldn't figure it out by that point.  When you continued to not get it, I just gave up, and made the comments I did.

It's like someone asking how to turn on a TV, and you say that you hit the big button on the front, and they hit every button but the power button.

Anyways, I do realize that I overreacted a little, and I will issue an apology.  But on a last note, I will mention that Electrical Engineering is probably beyond you, and I actually find it a little disrespectful to real engineers to be saying that you are well versed in it.

I made it quite clear in my original post I needed an adaptor, not some easily found cord, you confused me, but I have verified that my top loading NES has no readily visible(or, by association, accessible) RCA jacks, whether this is always true I don't know, but I've examined mine closely. You did nothing to "point me in the right direction", you posted useless comments laced with personal insults; actually they were pretty much comprised of insults. I, Infact, had all the information I needed before you posted and began confusing things.

Oh? You think so? What would you know of it? I needed an adaptor, and asked a simple question, too which you felt the need to contradict and insult me, before you'd posted I'd already been given pertinent information and had found a place to purchase anything I need (outside BuyRite, which I knew to be a poor business).  If you are so ignorant as to think not knowing where to find an adaptor is an indication of someones intelligence, or knowledge in Electrical Engineering, then you are certainly no authority.

So you come here looking for a fight, insult my intelligence and decide that you can divine all the knowledge I have? You truly are a marvel. Are you so unsure of yourself that you need to presume others stupid to make yourself feel better?

Considering your lack of tact, and self proclaimed expertise in any arguable subject, you should count yourself fortunate that YOU are not thought stupid.

I'm sorry that you're unwilling to make peace, I would have thought you'd have a little more class than to do what you've done. I honestly do not understand why you are being so crude and scathing. All I can think is that your life must be sad one.
